Title: weight of wheels and tires
Post by: parabs on October 10, 2010, 08:25:09 PM
In case anyone is wondering

I have a new (nubs still on) 245/75/16 goodyear mt/r on a 16x8 rubi wheel.

I weighed it on my scale tonight and it is 78 lbs!!!  Pretty crazy considering that I think the OEM spare tire carrier is rated to hold 50lbs.

I just installed 33x13.5 toyo muds on a set of mt classic II rims 15x10's and it weighed 93lbs on the same scale.  93 is a lot, but I extremely surprised how heavy the OEM Moabs and stock tires are.

dont you worry your self about the tire carrier ..   mine held up the hole rear of my jeep    and the tail gate bent only like 2 inches

but nothing i couldnt fix by jumping on the tire

but yes 93 lbs is about of weight to turn
and there only 33"

that is average for E rated tires.

mine are a little over 125 lbs per tire 35" toyo mt w/ beadlocks so im on the heavy end.  83 lbs for M/T and 42 or so for rims

My last Jeep (03 Rubi) wore 35" BFG AT's on 15x8 AR Baja rims and came in at a hefty 69 lbs per corner. Imagine my surprise when the 35's came in lighter than stock.
