my passanger door will not open. it is locked and the key or latch will not work. help if you can please.

try pressing the lock/unlock latch and using the key at the same time (roll down window helps) mine jams sometimes.
if that isnt the trouble, your rod may have come off / broke. may have to take door panel off.

thanks but how do you get the door panel off when the door is closed :-[

I had a simular issue with the rear door on the xj, I don't know if the front door is the same, but you remove the few screws that hold it in, the screws that hold the trim around the handle if it has it, and pull the window crank if it has manual windows. then yank.
the problem with mine was that the latch mechanism was really gummed up with different lubricants that it would not move anymore. once I managed to get the door unlocked and opened I took the latch out and cleaned the crud out of it. I plan to use some graphite to help it too.
hope that may help.
good luck

take the door pins off on the outside then remove the tub around the door starting with the windshield frame. *wink*
the panel is inside the jeep and can be removed easily from the inside. remove passenger seat and lots of room around it.

;D ok I got it!!! had to remove the back seat, remove the passanger seat. then i was able to remove the door panel, never thought you could that with the door closed. once inside I lubed the crap out of it, got in there with a screwdriver and started moving things around until i heard that magical little click :). Thanks guys for your input.
