So after I went back down the hill ( I was in the light blue XJ ) we did some great straight mud trails, ( my jeeps not much for climbing lol ) Anyway at somepoint my negative ground broke I wanted to know how I could fix this? See I opened my hood and played around with the ground abit and i got my battery to go back up to 14 on my gauge but once I got home it sliped off where I had it or something and its back at 0 on the gauge even when I touch it directly to metal on the frame if I weld it on will it stay? Or am I putting it on the wrong place does it have to be touching something in particular?

Thanks overall good time never got stuck and mostly didnt break anything... how did the run go after we left?

I can't answer your ground question....

Anyway, it was a really good run, the snow made things lots more fun.....espeacilly round the corners. Thanks goes to todd for leading it was nice to see some different trails.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the day, bogger69. You and the other two drivers that turned back as a group made the correct decision - there was a pretty good layer of ice underneath the snow in a lot of spots. It would have been very difficult for you guys. All we gotta do now is get your Cherokee set up with some MT's or AT's so that you're better set up to handle winter conditions. :)

We had lots of fun even having to turn back. The lift will be in for the 2 door in a few weeks then I will be selling my 255/75/17 with 8000km on them and getting some 35's it was quite a challenge dodging some of those rocks we were going through. Looks like a awesome trail if I were not stock and a few inches less snow.

Yep I am still lookin for some new tires and maybe if any of you have one for sale / know where I could get a front locker I will be getting that aswell  ;). It was still lots of fun even after you two left we went on for a few hours, looking forward to the next run / maybe being part of the team someday!   ;D

You might want to put a rear locker in first. Most of the times when you REALLY need a locker, you're climbing a hill - which means that you have more weight on your rear tires. Having both front and rear lockers is ideal, but if I could only have one, I would pick a rear locker.

bogger69,
it sounds like your altenator is on it's way out too. XJ altenators are mounted super f@$#ing low, and like to pack up with mud, grass, water, small children.

If you were a bit more careful, you wouldn't end up with children in your alternator, Trev. They'd stay lodged under your skid plate where they belong.

Ok so maybe im just crazy but my dads mechanic friend also said its the alternator but I don't think it is, Here is why:

- I hooked up a battery to mine that had a full charge, now my XJ has a bunch of gauges and the battery one read 11.5-12 volts with a fresh battery hooked up to the one in it, however, after like 5 min it sudendly droped to 9 which is really odd.

- Also I had this problem ( where it would start at 11.5-12 vold then drop to 9 ) like a week ago and after playing around with the ground it went back to 14 and i didnt have a problem until we went to mclean....

I don't want to buy a new alternator for $250-300 if I dont need one because I have $0 to spend so what else could it be?!?
