Title: Wheelin' November 14
Post by: after6queers on November 08, 2010, 04:20:37 PM
My wife finally has a weekend off and we are going to go and do some Wheelin'! I would want to start around 10 and taking it easy (do not want to freak her out). Will do Top of the World then Fisher West. Will be leaving Maclean between 2;30 and 3:30. Anyone interested please let me know.

Would this be open to stock jeeps? I need to get out and meet some other members and introduce the new zj to Maclean.

Should be good for stockers...but hey I have seen some stock jeeps do things that built jeeps didn't do! Depends on the driver!

Hey there,
Is the run for Jeeps only?  I can make it for 2:30 but my only ride is a Raptor.
Please let me know,
Thanks

Sorry, I made it sound like I wanted to start run between 2:30 - 3:30 pm...not the case I wanted to be done by 3:00. I would actually like to start early say around 9:30 am. I would also require that everyone has front and rear tow points, recovery gear, and a full size spare (especially a spare...I won't leave you out there if you do not have a spare but I will not be happy if I do not get home till midnight cause your too cheap to buy a spare).
Again this will be an easier run...want the wife to come more often and riding on three wheels will not help, so stockers should be fine!!!
See you all Sunday at 9:30 across from the store in front of the Creek...I am in a Black TJ with tube fenders!!!

Sounds fun! I'll be there as well.  I've got tow points, a legit spare and recovery gear.

Looking good for me being there, probably bringing a friend or two if I do make it out.

Pirate jeep, you'll know.

I was at Mclean tonight. Some of the trails are icy... be safe out there!

Hope you all don't mind a noob tagging along. I've been following these forums since I got my Jeep in September. Finally picked up a hitch shackle and tow strap yesterday so I'd be stoked to join you. See you there!

+1 on that. Today (Saturday), most of McLean was in pretty good shape right...but there is the odd hill that is slicker than greased walrus poop. Real easy to have your back end wander over an slide into a rut.

Stay out of the bigger mud holes. The ice on them isn't thick enough to hold you up but is thick enough to let you get out into the middle before breaking through or you'll damage your steering trying to push through it. Had to pull the winch out a couple of times today.

Well it was really good run, ice covering every single hole.... as mentioned was the key issue of the day. it would be great if we could get a link to some of the videos and pictures, of the ice stuck suzuki, climbing the ledge etc.

btw Thanks to Vantagetes for some good recovery strategies when i was in a very stuck situation
