Title: 2010 Show & Shine
Post by: Rubicon Josh on November 09, 2010, 11:19:34 AM
Hey guys,

Just wondering if the RTI Ramp scores were ever posted after this years show and shine. I have searched the forums but didn't come across a post with all of the enterants scores. I think I remember my score as being 987 or something like that but it seems high.

No, the scores were never posted.  I can look through my show and shine box and see if I can find the score sheets but they may have gone missing during the cleanup at the end of the day.

Yah if you can that would be great. I don't know if I gave my name or just my entry number but if you need any info I believe I was the last or second last to ramp that day. Thanks for your help.

I had the results and they went in the garbage (recycling) after we gave the prises/trophies...

Sorry...

Next year let's remember to post some of the results of the show & shine. Maybe we could have a list of the categories that pople were competing for and the top 3 and runners up for each event. The RTI ramp scores would be interesting to post for those people that have entered a couple years in a row and have made significant changes to their rig between each show and shine. They would be able to compare past results against their most recent and other people would be able to get an idea of how their jeeps would stack up against people with similar jeeps. I found this one JK-Forum and I like the idea:

People have always great ideas... it's the lack of volonteer and time to organize the S&S that we are lacking.

who is going to sit down and do a spread sheet... ?

I will do one up before next september if you want. No biggie. I can do stuff like that, what I can't seem to do is find time to drive to Calgary once a month for a meeting ;)

I will, especially if it gets me out of adding the score cards up in my head while trying to pay attention to the raffle draws :P

We'll set up a tripod with a camera for consistent pictures. And I'll set up a spread sheet ahead of time (not saying it won't be the night before...) but I will look after that part

edit: Rubicon Josh posted while I was typing, but we can either do it together or just have a back up in case one of us can't make it.

Nice to see non-members wanting to help out with this event.  Now we need a member to volunteer to organize the Show and Shine for 2011.  It looks like you have help already.  Some one step up!

you sir are officially being voluntold to do this for next year ;)
good idea? indeed it is.
but suggestions for these kinds of things are often left unfilled because nobody steps up to do it.  and understandably why; spreadsheets suck.
props to stepping up.

ps, there is more to joining this club than just making meetings.  we have lots of those. if you are active and contribute, that goes quite some ways.........

that is if we have a show and shine.  who, oh who will step up and run it?

I wiork with MS Excel every day so it really isn't that big of a deal. I will participate and help out on just about any project as long as I can commit the time to it. Managing a very busy oilfield company sometimes gets in the way of what is important in life. lol.

We tried to arrange that, but she turned us down. :-[

Seriously...this IS a great chance for folks that aren't yet members. There will be an experienced member of the CJA coordinating the organization of the Show 'n Shine...but that person is there to coordinate - not to organize all of the various contributing factors that make up the whole event. If you've been to one of our show 'n shines and enjoyed it, this is a great time to volunteer to help out with part of it.

Want to know what works and what doesn't for suspension mods? Volunteer to help with the TRI ramp.

Looking at buying a winch? Organize the winch race!

Are you good at public speaking? Volunteer to be the anouncer.

Got some great sales skills? Help out by soliciting prizes from sponsors.

Graphic design skills? Volunteer to help work on this year's poster.

There's also a place for people to help out by loaning things. Shade awnings, orange pylons...

Just because you don't have a membership card yet doesn't mean that you can't contribute.

help out YES!!  Run NO!!!  But I think that's the big problem isn't it??  Everyone is willing to help, but no one wants to be in charge.  If some one does want to take lead, I will be there to help as well  ;D

Many people are supposedly willing to "help out" but there's a VERY short list of people that are willing to cowboy up and commit.

For someone that's not a member yet, it makes sense. Help out in a supporting role, figure out if the CJA is the right place, sure. That's how we all started out, and it makes sense.

For someone that's already a member...you've already said that the CJA is the place for you. Why are so few members willing to step up and commit to making a contribution by organizing things?

Don't I know it. That crazy girl running around last year like a chicken with her head cut off was me. Because lots of people offered, and then disappeared when one of the coordinators needed help with something because the 'volunteers' were too busy watching the RTI ramp. Both members and non-members who offered to help, I might add.

So sit back and have as many great 'suggestions' as you'd like, if you don't want to pony up, don't bother. Try saying, I think I can help make the next Show & Shine a bigger success by creating a spreadsheet to track competition results. And then do it. Instead of - hey, why didn't you do this. Well, because it's not where my paycheque comes from, but I'm glad you've been blessed with all the free time in the world to bitch about what everyone else can accomplish with their free time.
