Title: ZJ heating issues
Post by: chrispl on November 21, 2010, 04:40:46 PM
Hey, I recently picked up a 96 5.2 ZJ. When i first got it, the heat wasn't that great, it was blowing cool air when it was set to hot. I flushed the heater core, which helped alot but now i've ran into a couple more issues. Since flushing the heater core, i'm not able to select which vents the heat goes through ( floor, vents, mixed etc) it's stuck on defrost. I know it's vaccum controlled and i'm pretty sure i popped off the line somewhere, i just can't find where, i've already looked under the hood and online but can't find it. Another issue i have is the heat work's on all setting's except for the highest one, it just stopped working out of nowhere, could it be the blower motor?

This is what i've already done.
-heater core flush
-new thermostat
-checked blend air door
-swapped new switches/heat panel

Basically i've searched and tried to fix these issues for the past few days, online helped quite a bit but i can't find anything else. Let me know if you have any ideas, thanks!

Might be the blower motor resistor. I think there is a thread on Jeepforum about this right now.

What was it? Have a somewhat similar problem on my ZJ that I've never really figured out.
