The stock fender flares on my 02 Tj are looking worse for wear!!! I 've been doing some reading and research on the subject, but most post I've read are from people who live in sunny Arizona or Florida... Which isn't really helpful living in Calgary. So to get to the point, I was wonder if anyone has had any experience sprucing up their stock fender flares and what recommendations you have to prep and paint them. I was thinking I might go with either Krylon Fusion satin black or even Duplicolor bedliner in a can? If you have pictures that would be great too!

Are they turning a cloudy color? Can you scrape the "cloudiness" off with your fingernail?

product called 'black magic' works good to restore the fenders look.
we painted the yellow TJ ones with a Krylon outdoor paint as well. theylooked really nice IMO

Taking a heat gun too them works quite well.

They are getting cloudy yes, however I don't think they were a pure black to begin with...more of an dark grey-black. I was looking to make them match, as close as possible, the colour of my jeep (which is black). I found a good thread on here by fony3,

He/she used Krylon Fusion and it looks awesome! I did however want to compare it to flares that have been painted with some kind of bedliner, so if anyone has pics of that I would appreciate it. On the same note, does anyone know if bedliner will even adhere to the flares?

Taking a heat gun too them works quite well.
Seriously try this first. It actually works(temporarily...like a few months anyway)
Bedliner will adhere to the plastic fender flares so long as you do a good prep job first and use a quality bedliner. I've also found that spraying worked better than brushing it on.

I never was much a fan of the sun spots/wear marks on them. I still need to decide between a spray bedliner and black gloss paint.

Use a good quality "trim" paint, you can get it at any autobody supply shop. If you want to go crazy you can buy paint bulk and add a flex agent to allow it to bend with the plastic.
