I believe my clutch switch is starting to go. I have had a few instances in recent weeks when the TJ won't start.
I've been reading that it can be by passed. So..what's better to do? By pass or replace?
-
I bypassed mine... love it!! Don't have to worry about it not starting because I am unable to depress the clutch down far enough when my nose is aimed skyward.
-
Isn't there a fuse you either remove or install on the TJ's to bypass the clutch interlock?

In my old TJ I put the fuse in the auto trans slot to bypass the need for the clutch switch...worked like a dream.
-
i bypassed my clutch within 1 week of buying the jeep new. :)

Bypass it is! I've read that by adding the fuse to fuse block to bypass, the 4x4 light always stays on. Going to try it with a spare fuse to see if that happens and if it does I'll just put the wires together at the switch.
-
just like you to take the bypass

I'm bypassed and my 4x4 light does not stay on.

Put a 20amp fuse in the "auto trans" outlet behind the glove box. Problem solved.
-
Just an FYI,
The fuse trick does not work on 2005-6 Rubicons. >:(
When you shift into 4 lo it's automatically bypassed.

Mine's an 04 Rubi. 20 Amp fuse works great! No lights on the dash. Just have remember to take it out of gear before starting up 8)
