I have a chance to buy some front brackets and tow hooks for my 90 XJ but brackets and hooks are off a 99 XJ. Will these fit mine. Are there any unibody changes through the years? Thanks

They should be fine.

Thanks. Actually had another question about this. Although I'm not too sure how these brackets mount but from what I've seen they replace the original bumper brackets. My question is, can I do away with the hooks and stock bumper and make a bumper to fit that has shackle mounts on the front instead?

Yep, I'll send you a pic of my winch bumper, hooks etc. if you would like.

would ya mind sending the pics my way too? I'm gonna be building a front bumper once my rear is done.
Cheers

The factory brakckets were designed to be pulled on from the bottom where the hooks mount. The bumper mounts are not beefy enough for being pulled on. My Warn Combo mount mounts to the bumper as well as a few other places but the bumper mounts on my brackets are stretched and bent from the winch mount pulling on the bumper.

I went the opposite way but maybe it'll help anyhow...
I had OEM brackets on my 1990 Laredo (originally pulled from a pre91 MJ). They were two pieces...one that was composed of the bumper bracket welded to a long narrow piece that bolted back beyond the steering box mount. The other was just an angled piece that beefed up where the OEM bumper bracket bolted to...it mounted to the corner of the front frame cross member.
Because this first piece was part and parcel to the bumper brackets on my '90, I had to grind them apart. The 90's brackets were destroyed in this process. The brackets from my 99 worked with these perfectly and all holes lined up with no problems.
Hope that helps you out.
