It has been way to long, looking to get out to Waiparous on Sunday the 20th and run the winter trails.
Meet at the Cochrane Smitties at 9:00 am and head out to the gravel pit from there
Do I have any takers?
-
The CT4WD guys are doing a run that day as well just so you know.
-
Fascinating...I guess there will be a whole bunch of toyotas out there too..I like toyotas
-
*ahem*....Heritage Calssic

Yup, but I'd still rather go wheelin. If you knew better you'd come too. Fresh air, mountains and big lifted jeeps, its pretty amazing
-
Hockey, Beer, Fresh Air, Beer, Once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity, Beer....win

Well obviously you have tickets right? Then you should definately go to the game. I'll go out jeepin

I'd rather go wheelin' than watch some grown men slap a rubber puck around a rink anyday! :P
Have fun Jamal

I should be able to make - not a big hockey fan!
My jeep is making some funny sounds that I have to sort out first. If I can't make it I'll let you know Friday. I'm also happy to report my winch is working again so we can give yours a break bryan!
-
What tires are you running right now.Good to here that everything is working but i don't mind helping out that what is all about anyway. That hill was great i wonder how it is now.I bet it's a lot better now since we broke the trail.I think the harder it is the better it is.I like 4x4 for all the thinking i have quads and its just to easy.SO every chance i get i like to go 4X4ing for the challenge!!!!

I am in guys if you aren't planning anything too crazy. I have studded 31s, tow points, locker and recovery gear. My only issue is ground clearance as I have yet to install my lift. I will see you guys there and we can discuss it from there.
-
It was a good run today thanks guys!!!!
-
It was a good day minus the getting stuck part lift will be bigger soon and locker in the front should help me out a bit
-
Lots of fun, Good run
Took this video of 88xj slidin down the hill, its narrow because i took it with my phone
copy and paste the linkwww.youtube.com/watch?v=_Gw7tMz6kc8
I noticed their are unrun trails branching off the winter trails with jeep signs on them. I take it these are open as well? and not just the loops?
-
I gotta say, sliding backwards down a hill with all 4 locked would be a little frightening... Guess you have to see where you came from to know if its bad or not :o
-
Locking it up when you are sliding downhill is not only scary, it's downright dangerous. As your rig is front heavy it will have a tendency to want to swing out, think pendulum. A vehicle sliding sideways downhill can soon be one rolling down the hill. And I don't mean rolling tires either; I mean roof wheels roof wheels type of rolling.
Your instinct is to mash the brakes but what you should do is hit reverse ASAP, and keep your foot off the clutch and brakes, let the engine be your brake and drive downhill in reverse. A controlled descent in reverse is way better than an uncontrolled slide.
Glad it all worked out though, looks like the ruts held you in alignment down the hill.
-
Yup, reverse would have helped, but it ended up being harmless in this situation...as you said ruts. I think we have all done it at one time or another, not the best way to learn... kinda unnerving
-
i locked them up to try to hold myself there insted of rolling back but kept sliding i let the clutch and just rolled back
