- Be prepared to air down to 15psi or so
- Spare fluids for your rig

- All of the lights on your rig must work
- Plenty of food and water for everyone in the vehicle

So when do I sign thus waiver and what's it about cause I'm in got new tires
you don't need to sign anything until the day of the run; typically sign the waver just before a drivers meeting, and after ensuring everyone present has met the requirements set out by the trail leader. the waiver is a basic liability form; so if you do something stupid you can't blame the club :)
-
We're doing the winter trails. Bring a shovel.
-
It should be good the snow is a lot less then it was that's if we don't get anymore snow. Having a shovel is always a good idea but i don't think your going to need it!!!

Hey guys,
I am hoping to try out the new locker this weekend. I dont have a lift but I have 31s with no rubbing issues. My only real issue seems to be ground clearance.....hence the reason for the OME kit coming soon.
Are most of the areas you guys go fairly mild as with my locker and studded snows I can usually get some pretty hairy places but i would prefer not to rip anything off the bottom of my Grand. I have front and rear tow points, recovery straps etc...so I should be okay. I am looking forward to a nice day out and try out the rig on some trails.
-
Should be able to make it all going well.
Mike

With the really cold weather I was wondering at what temp would this trip be canceled if at all?
Thanks

I'm not speaking for the people doing the run but just as a heads up, winter wheeling hides all the nasty body (and underbody) modifying obsticals. That and it's much hard to avoid the ones you do see.
-
I am going to leave it up to the individual participants to decide what temperature they pull the plug at. So far it looks like it will be around -13* for a high and -19* for a low. If due to unforeseen circumstances I do not end up leading the run (very minute chance of this happening), it will revert back to a non-official run unless another member steps up.
-
sounds good! Ill be there regardless, just wanted to make sure.
See you sunday
-
is this run suitable for someone inexperienced in 4x4ing? I have an 08 JK Unlimited Sahara, stock. Is this trail difficult?
Mario

Looks like we are going to have some fresh snow to go playing in.

Mario
I have never been on the "winter trails" so I can't speak for the difficulty of it, but I am stock as well so you won't be alone.
-
theres one nasty spot, i don't know if you guys will even get to it......... but its a stock JK eater; ask Silverfox ;)
has a tendency to take out flares and leave some nasty scratches/bruises on the passenger doors......
-
I thought I heard there was a way around that spot. If I pull the same move as Silverfox I may as well not go home... :-\
-
or try and get out to the falls. thats just icy. nothing skinny pedal can't fix :)
should benefit you long wheelbased JKs a bit better. to.
i don't wanna scare anyone: I just think you need to know that 'body modification' can happen anytime you go wheeling.........
-
That spot is really not that bad think about what to do before you do it and you will be fine.We all went that way about three weeks ago and had no problem.
-
says the guy on 37's...
-
YES my 37's r great but i can try again with my stock tires just for fun!!!!!
-
I'm running stock on 30s, you just need to think about what youre going to do before you do it, watch the guy in front of you and judge accordingly. Plus make sure if youre running mostly stock follow a guy who's running bigger tires and lift, they ll pack down the trail for you, so you won't have to go peddle to the metal through known terrain.

I am pulling the plug on this one.
Too much to do.
Too cold
I am getting a cold
Too much of a wimp
::)

Oh Boo to you! :)

A Jeep eating spot on the Waiparous winter trails?? Really, where?
-

bone stock jeep. no tire/lift mods at all.
-
Just interested in where you guys mean. Maybe it is with certain snow? I only drove them once, last March and we did them all in 3 hours. No stucks, just drove through. The one from the middle of Meadow Creek north to the road is steep and slippery for sure. That day, without chains, it would not have been possible. But still don't recall any places that I would be worried about losing a truck.
Just wondering where. If there a bad spot, it would be nice to avoid if you have new guys along.
-
Johnny is exaggerating a little when he says "eater" There have just been two JK's this winter that were stock wheels/Suspension that went through and got some body work done.
-
Just an update.
This is going ahead, the projected high on Sunday is going to be -8*C so having the correct clothing and extras is essential.
We will be doing the winter loop, but depending on how many vehicle show up and how many people want to, there is always the option for some to split off into a second group. If that is the case, no one will be wheeling alone. All efforts will be made to make it back to the trailhead at a reasonable time but due to the nature of wheeling in the winter, I can't make any guarantees about arrival time.
Please read and follow the requirements on the first page, tow points are NOT optional, neither are warm clothes and food/water for passengers. If you show up with no tow points you will not be able to wheel. 31" tires with good tread and either MT or AT tread, if you are in doubt over this you can PM me. Be prepared to air your tires down to about 15psi, may of us have OBA and airing up after the run will not be a problem.
Waivers will be signed either in the parking lot at Smitties or the gravel pit, if you are not a CJA member you have to sign one. Please show up on time, we are leaving the parking lot in Cochrane at 9:30 sharp.
Any questions, comments, concerns feel free to PM me.

Well now a stock JK and a stock Rubicon JK are slightly different but in the end I agree.
This spot is easily avoided without taking a different trail. IIRC it is at the top of Cabin Creek Trail and rather than running the cut you just get up on the high side on the left and go around the hump.

Well seeing as Turtle is disappointed I will upgrade to a maybe.

me? exaggerate? NEVER hahaha ;)
its the little birm/spot and the way the stock JK fenders are and stuff, if your wheels don't stick out a bit you'll catch some body.... you wouldn't even notice it in a modified rig......

Ahh, so the far north end of the loop? Yes, there are two official trails there. Or maybe you mean somewhere else. There are a few bypasses of the cutlines.

Okay, count me in as a probably. I gotta get an official CJA run in so I can get my membership! Plus this has been a really bad week, and I need to blow off some steam. Nothing more relaxing than 12 hours in my Jeep. :-)
-
X2 on that one ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I am out jeeps not ready yet ;)

-
Friend has to work, should still be able to make it myself however. Looking at the weather it shouldn't be too hard to make ye shiver yur timbers with the pirate jeep.
-
I'm out boys, next time!
-
Great day today, even though I didnt really get to go out with any of the CJA members . There were two other jeeps, sorry don't recall who you are on here though. :)
Had a good time with the toyota boys though. Got to tug out two of them!

Anyway, made it out safe. Look forward to the next run.
-
That pic just looks wrong :o
-
haha, why?
-
just the angle of the toy's front tire. almost looks like it's been pulled out a bit to far :o. I do like the Jeep in front tho ;D
-
That wad a good day. Now I gotta fix my exhaust
-
Well had a good day it is time to do a motor.Worked it a little hard pulling some of u guys up the hills. Can't wait to do it again the wheeling part not the pulling part .Well I'm out for a week or two going to get the new motor in an a little over hall.See all of you soon happy wheeling!!!
-
Bryan, I have to say your rig kicks a$$. Seeing it fall through the ice was a little crazy! All in all it was a fun day though, despite the wheel being held in place with a highlift jack and Fraser's blown drive shaft. All I know is that it took me nearly 20 minutes in the car wash just to get all the ice out of my rims!!
Too bad we never met back up with the Yota guys, but it looks like they had almost as much fun as us!
-
Pinchy thank's man glad you came out all the way from Red Deer HAD LOTS OF FUN .It was a hard day on the truck but i'd do in again anytime.Need a few weeks to get the jeep on the road again then i'm ready for more!!!!Have a good one.
