Title: Where to find lights and what to look for
Post by: silverfox on February 23, 2011, 05:55:17 PM
I am looking at putting in some spot/floods on the back of the JK.

Well more accurately I am going to integrate them into the rear bumper.

I am not worried about wiring as they will be wired direct to the Spod so no concerns about fusing or resistors as they are built into the Spod. My questions are more simple.  I am looking for a sealed rectangular light (LED or Halogen) that is somewhere around 2" by 4" up to say 3" by 7".

Rather than surfing random websites I thought the collective mind might have some ideas.

Back to Stan at Northridge.  There are also some truck shops around that have all sorts of the lights like Custom Truck Parts...

These are a little pricey, but they look nice.

These might work for what I want to try...............essentially I am looking at inserting them into my stock JK rear bumper rather than mounting on or under where they can get torn off.  Need  a little warmer weather before I go and pull my bumper to see where and how they would fit.

Don't bother doing anything to the stock plastic buddy. As you can see from my rear bumper, rocks like jumping up and reaching out for that stock plastic  ;)

The Vision X Solo's I have, I put them on the rear tire carrier... just have them shining out through the spokes... nobody sees them to steal and they work great.

This.  I've completely ripped my rear bumper off once already.  There's just metal screwtabthingamajigs on it, other then that it's all plastic.

Grote lights offers lots of options. You can get them/order them from most heavy truck parts stores.

I have broken so many fog lites, driving lights etc. that I just go to PA and pick up a new set for $10.   Universal fit with a little "ingenuity".

Grote is making some seriously intense LED flood and spot lamps now, we're putting them on the new frac pumper units I'm building at work. They are seriously bright and and are built to take a beating.
