Looking for a good strong, possibly adjustable latch for my swingout tire carrier. Any suggestions?

There are a few styles I'm personally considering, something like this seems pretty common

alternatively I've been looking at this style of a latch, so I can just swing it shut, then have to pull it up to swing open.
a "Spring Loaded Slide Bolt" (all the way at the bottom)

*not sure if McMaster will let me hot link the images, so if they don't show just go to the website. But Yeah Greggs should have very similar stuff.

i had one similar to that first one knox.

it broke a week after i had it........ last year i literally ratchet stapped the tire carrier closed.  i've resorted to a nut and bolt to keep mine closed........... yes i use a ratchet and a wrench to open/close it..............

easier and hopefully it won't swing open on mcleod again and almost wax a civic.........

I used that first style on my swing out carrier. Been good for a year now. Got it at Greggs Distributors. Very happy with it.

I picked up a couple adjustables in the surplus section at PA - they are rough and you would need to whip up a bracket and link but I may use one on my swing out (I bought em for left andf right park brakes originally)

They are the same as park brakes in old internationals and landcruisers - just another option..
