Hey all,
I was looking into getting some decal vinyl cut for the 7inch round headlights on my TJ to give them that angry eye look, as well as get a flat black or metallic black Canadian Flag decal made by Joe at dublu Decals. He mentioned that quantity pricing is available and usual brings the cost down significantly. So if anyone's interested let me know. I know there is a group heading to Moab and maybe you would like to rock our Nation's Flag on your rig!
I have asked him to make up a prototype image for the flag so once I get that I will post is up, and I'm sure you all know what the angry eyes look like.

Oh my Lord.... that is gayer than Dougie's Angry XJ Eyes. While you're at it, you might as well run GSAs, and a woodblock lift kit.
Just out of curiosity.... Why would you put $$ towards something (which I consider silly) like this, instead of making your rig more capable? And I know that there are those of you out there that believe that adding a sticker will increase the size of obstacle that you can get over by 1"....

didnt someone already do this to an XJ (probably this ^^ mythical dougie) and can it because it screwed up the light path? Maybe look into that - if you cant see in the dark well.... at least youll look angry when you cream a deer.

put the 10$ in your gastank and grab some black engine paint or something and just paint that section on your headlight... no need for actual decals................
this could be a cool game; 'name your best 10$ performance mod'
my best 10$ mod? actually..... it was 10$ of gas in the pass' when i was on fumes ;) it got me back to a gas station!

Put some racing air in the tires. Or possibly type R seat covers. There you just got a ton of performance. Hold onto your seat! ::)

Obviously several of you aren't to keen on the angry eyes idea, regardless if people want them you can PM me same for the Canadian Flag. I saw an American Flag in flat black on a black TJ and it looked awesome.
Johnny post a thread in General Talk for the best 10$ mod, now I'm intrigued to see what people have done!

I have to agree with Kyle on this one. The fact that every aspect of your jeep can be changed means no two are the same. That's why they are so awesome. You can personalize them anyway you want.
I mean do you think hanging a rubber shark off your mirror is cool? Well I do (and so does Bruce).

Personally I could give a crap about what other people do to their Jeeps. Do I like the angry eyes??? Nope not in the least, but hey whatever floats your boat. The reason I think it is a pi$$ poor idea is the fact that you are cutting off 15 to 20% of your light path. One of the first things I did to my JK was ditch the factory dimlights for a set of Hellas 4's so I can't imagine why I would then restrict the lights.
You want to pimp out your rig with decals and dice I say go for it. But keep the things that have a safety impact as good or better than they are. But as I said it's your rig do as you please.
Having said that, I might be interested in a few Canadian Flag Decals once I get a look at them.

I was trying to make a point that maybe he should really think about something before he makes his vehicle less safe, and spend the $10 on something that will benefit his wheeling. Just like Johnny said... put the $10 in your tank, and get out on the trail. Or pocket the $10 today, and tomorrow, and the next day.... until you have enough for a Kingone winch, or longarms, or tires, or lockers.... ect, ect.
And I will be the first one to say "To each their own", Whatever floats your boat or fills your boots". But you might as well slap some Saran Wrap across your windshield. Hell, that will only cost you about 10 cents. Just let us all know when you are out driving.

Best $10 mod I ever did to my Jeep was buying some zip straps to relocate my vent hoses. I still keep all my light output too with the hoses higher!

How about a test lamp? Spare bulbs for your headlights? A jerrycan? A shovel? An axe? A bow saw?
All of those things should be in your Jeep when you're on the trail. How many of them do you have in your Jeep right now? Any one of them would be a better place to spend $10 than on stickers.

But don't get me wrong here guys in no way am I forgoing the safety essentials nor am I devaluing any performance upgrade or ten bucks of gas just so I can get evil eye decals! This is a matter of either or, it's a matter of "and". That being said, a shovel is a hell of a better choice at this junction then evil eye decals. I'm still getting the canadian flag though!

other good items to add to Noels list would be a fire extinguisher, a first aide kit, a letherman utility knife, etc.
all these things cost money, and its tough to put together a kit of such things at any one time..........
just another thought ;)

Back to the topic of this post! This is the mock up of the sticker I am considering ordering, if any of you need to see an actual sample I will see if I can get that for you within the week. I was thinking I would get some made up in flat black and some in metallic gunmetal.

Not to stir crap.............but in a discussion forum isn't what you post subject to discussion? Sometimes you like what people say sometimes you don't. If you don't want to hear what people might think or want to say then you likely should not post what you are doing in an open forum. We all know what opinions are like.............and the great thing about this country of ours is everybody still has a right to theirs.

I've gone ahead and moved this post to General, since nobody is actually selling anything at this point in time - if I had thought of it, I probably would have moved it earlier.

I am selling the canadian flag, I am waiting on pricing and first order quantities.
I have requested that it be moved to "other stuff for sale"
Additionally if those who have said they would like a decal can commit without seeing the actual sticker, not much to see really as it's a black canadian flag, I can make the order sooner. However, if you'd like to wait I hope to have a sample by the weekend.

If you don't want to hear what people might think or want to say then you likely should not post what you are doing in an open forum. We all know what opinions are like.............and the great thing about this country of ours is everybody still has a right to theirs.

As an aside to the whole thing it is probably useful to know that it is illegal to do this to your headlights.
From the Highway Traffic Act Vehicle Requirements.
(5) A person shall not attach or apply anything that colours the
light from a headlamp to the headlamp, part of the headlamp or a
bulb in the headlamps.
Course it also says I should have mudflaps ::)
Anyway forewarned is forearmed they say.

Thanks for the heads -up Scott, the fact that its illegal deters me from doing this, for now anyway!
As for the Canadian Flag decals I will be picking up a sample of the materials (not the actual flag) tomorrow so you can all see how it looks, and how it goes on your vehicle, tool box, fridge etc.
As for costs I was thinking one for $10 and two for 15$ was fair, as these are high quality decals made out of vinyl specifically for use on vehicles. I will also make indiviual arrangements for pick up or drop off with each interested buyer.

Yup, as I said forewarned is forearmed. I am not suggesting for a second that my jeep is in full compliance, but I think it is wise to know where it falls in the rules and where it doesn't.

Yes, most of our vehicles won't comply to the whole act, but why add something on that would attract a cops attention to go over the vehicle with more attention after they have something to pull you over for especially when it comes to safety equipment. Jeep lights suck for the most part anyway unless you get aftermarket, so I just don't understand why anyone would want to restrict the little light that stock lights produce. Right.... to intimidate the blue haired old lady in the parking lot with your mall crawler. That's about it. Opinion thread or not, there has been lots of room here for discussion and knowing the cops will be more attracted to you because of your lights... well then go ahead. It's less attention they will give me. Just don't give the cops a hard time or you can probably expect a box 1 VI.
The flag is still a cool thing to have though. Out here in BC, the jeep club has it's own logo that almost everyone has. It's simple, clean, and looks great. You see club stickers and even if you don't know them, you know you can ask for help if you need it or get chatting and maybe go wheeling that evening. Does CalgaryJeep have anything like that?

As far as I'm concerned, its pay to play. So long as I don't have to listen to you complain when you get a ticket you can do whatever mods you want. If they really want to get you they can and will, 99% of the time they wont hassle you unless you are being a fool on the road.
As far as "having something to pull you over for" goes, they don't need anything. They can pull you over even if you didn't break the law. The best bet is to drive responsibly and if you do get pulled over, be polite and respectful. Don't give them a reason to look for things or not let you off with a warning.
