Title: Armchair Mechanic needed!
Post by: Evil-Jeep on June 08, 2011, 05:53:49 PM
On my way home today I was pulling thru some soft ground and went to throw the jeep in 4wd.
no problem for the first 2 feet then I had no gears, seemed like the Tcase was in Neutral.

Pulled over shut it down took a look under neath - nothing out of the ordinary. Jumped in put it back in 2wd started it and drove just fine. Pulled in the drive way put it back in 4hi and noticed |I had no indicator light but seemed 4wd was engaged.

I am thinking the linkage is out on the t-case, should I run with this or should I be more worried.

My morning commute is from Calgary to Crossfield, and I wiil not have time to get under the jeep until the weekend.

Stock 03 TJ with 4.o and manual trans.

Thoughts?

t/case linkage may need an adjustment. if i recall all you do is put it in 4low, loosen the adjuster bolt, and put it all the way to 4low. tighten hold down bolt.
