Title: jeep got stolen
Post by: chiefwannaburn on June 23, 2011, 02:53:27 PM
so i come home at around midnight and park my car in the same spot the jeep sits. Mmm this is wierd since the rear end was completly locked up.
I go in the house and report it stolen and they ask me the questions like"what colour, vin, plate and if it stands out".
The next morning i go out back and see the skid marks of the jeep getting draged away.I went in the house and started calling tow truck companys.
An hour goes by,no luck. I think to myself "someone must have seen this" so i start knocking on doors around back and sure enough just about everybody
saw what happend "white flat deck, white male in his 40's,had a limp, said he was takin it to bc".So now im thinking i'll never see her again.
Later that day the old lady and i head out to the car that is now parked out front on the street and i look down the road and see the unmistakable dual antena tips in a yard about 1/8th of a kilomiter away! i run as fast as i can down the road and look over the fence,THERE IT IS!!!! ;D.I call the cops, get a tow truck and bring it home. The cop said that there will be no charges layed because he said my landlord said it was abandoned and that he could take it.

what do you think about that one :o

Uuuum its registered in your name, your address, and was taken without consent...that's theft is it not?   Landlord may own the house but not the street in front of ot. O would be having a chat with the cops.

Speaking from experience, the cops will not lay any charges unless the person taking the vehicle had criminal intent. I had to send the RCMP after a company truck that a guy buggered off to Prince George in...and despite the fact that he had been told that he was not to drive or move the truck,

Was the landlord a meanie for getting the jeep towed without talking to you? Depends on whether or not he knew it was yours, or had asked you to move it.

I'd be glad that you got it back so easily...and maybe have a discussion (calmly) with your landlord.

apparently it wasn't even my landlord and. In my eyes if it was abandend it should have gone to the impound lot and buddy could have bought it at auction .but it was plated just because you don't drive your jeep every day dosn't mean its free for the taking. I live in the front and my stall is out back with a big #3 painted in red that matches the red #3 on my door!
beleive me im not very happy how this all went down

the guy who stole it called a tow truck. I"ve been a tow truck driver for more than four years and that kind of stuff happens he probably had no clue he was stealing. My naburs say this guy was a really good talker still no exuse but enough to fool him since he had no keys for the truck.

1) Call the RCMP back and ask for the officer's supervisor.

2) That doesn't work, call the Mayor's office and let them know how policing works in your area of town.

3) That doesn't work, call Calgary Global TV....ask them if they want a good story to show how really inept the police are.

Ok you reported it stolen, so if you had not found it and the guy that took it tried to sell it, wouldn't he then be guilty of selling stolen goods?

You can probably get some corroboration from the tow truck driver, since he was party to the theft all you have to do is mention to his supervisor that you are looking at civil action and need their info. They should be willing to help you then.

If not, then just trainwreck the guy's life. Even though he is stealing stuff he probably has a job, landlord, girlfriend/wife etc.. All people who would be very interested in finding out he is a thief.

YOU have a tow truck....?? Hook up his car....take car home...
Whats he going to do, call the cops?  Tell them your landlord was scrapping the car and left it in front of your house.
( slimjim door and leave lil chunk of dog poo in a/c vent)

Don't  use dog poo in the vents...... it dries up.  I think I would go for a piece of raw meat instead.  Maybe a badger.
