So are you looking for licensed mechanics or mechanically inclined people?
-
Prefer licensed but would take mechanically inclined if we can't find licensed
-
What are you guys paying? I know a couple guys looking.

ya ull have better luck if you pay 40 / hr but for all seriousness whats the going wage
-
$40/hr is pretty high for the Calgary area. You'd get lots of applicants with that rate!
-
for $40 an hour I can be mechanically inclined. ;D

Not really.

$40/hr would be a pay cut...lol.

Are you guys HD mechs working around Calgary? If so where/what and are you hiring?
-
Aarons a grumpy old welder on night shift (15% bonus)... Not like he works hard for his money though! Haha!
-
Im an HD and have about 20 mechanics and welders working from me (everything from apprentice to licensed) licensed is in the 35 range. We also pay people what they are worth as I've seen licensed guys get their butt kicked in the real world by an apprentise. If your good I make money, so you will too (its my attitude).

He's come a long way then. He used to change oil at Canadian Tire as a tech just a few years ago. He didn't work hard there either....come to think about it...he was a grumpy bastard then too.

Ya I kinda thought $35 was the range for Calgary. I was getting $34ish when I was at the airport.
-
Bwawhaha..noel...you s.o.b..I have never worked at CDN tire..and if I work pretty hard repairing Justine 's goose poop welds all night. .lol
I am pretty grumpy lately though ::)

we are just under $39, union shop, banfets, campany share top up (not doing to good right now) $600 a year tool alowance, $300 boot, they give you most of the air tools and torq wrenches. everything 3/4 and up is in the tool room.
A lot of guys dont like what we do but I love it, it is not exsactlly machanicing.

Keep in mind the wages in Calgary where based on a labor shortage during the boom and now somewhat of a bust and returning to normal. It was hard to get people and some did come back, believe me. As an employer we had to pay big dollars to compete, now it is more of an even relationship. mid 30's for a"good" licensed person is the norm with maybe higher dollar mechanics in shop with also higher billable labor rates.

They are only goose poop the first and second time. After I grind them down for the third time, I usually have it down.
