Title: 4.0L Rebuild or replace
Post by: Marco on August 04, 2011, 07:37:40 PM
Whelp, I finnaly killed it  :'( . Im inquiring on your thoughts as to whether or not i should have the engine rebuilt, or find a used one. i love my jeep and most likely wont sell it f0r quite some time. What is the average price to have it rebuilt properly? (ill take it out). Thanks for any ideas.

you could always find a 4.0l h.o. out of a cherokee.  i blew my first 4.0l and found a 150k out of a cherokee, was very cheap.  if you do that though you might have to drill and tap some holes in the block to change the alternator bracket like i did.  good ol dodge already made the flats in the block to drill.  then you would have a spare motor if you rebuild your other one.  its sickening how many people take jeeps to the kidney foundation not knowing how sought-after all these parts are!

i know i would like to go that route, he said all i need to change is injectors. is that true? the computers and everything else is ok? some online reading says the stroker like that could be better then a V8?  :o
