im guessing its just a pin and then you can lower it to open rear hatch .. if so cool do you have any problems with it moving side to side when your driving

Its definately not enough wobble to bother me yet

i would never mount a hi lift outside. Dual gas cans would look sweet.

x2, I mounted my hihglift on the front bumper, it usually needs to be "convinced" to work properly most days. It was a better option than mounting inside with 2 kids though.

You can buy a neoprene boot from Hi-Lift that slips over the ratcheting mechanism for $35 . Protects from rain, snow etc. Princess Auto has them. You can also buy a rubber isolator so the handle doesn't rattle while you drive, and locks with mounts can be purchased so thieves don't walk away with it. I usually lubricate mine once a month. I've owned the same Hi-Lift for 15 years and it's seen duty on 5 different vehicles mounted outside.

Pound some shims into the receiver to keep the sidey-sidey motion to a minimum. But not a perfect solution.
Drop bumper, build rear internal frame, notch/cut plastic bumper ton accept tire+jerry holder. Frees up stock receiver for recovery/towing.
Get rid of that strap or you'll smash that rear window. Drill hole thru bottom, use receiver bolt lock to secure fronty-backy motion. Would likely save back glass from smashy-smashy in a fender-bender.

Here's an idea. It may or may not be to your taste.
