Hi all, this is a strange question but I've noticed somewhat of a pattern where the 4.0 engines in the Cherokee will last about 350,000 km but in the Grand Cherokee only about 250,000 km. I believe the Grand is about 300 lbs heavier but I'm still surprised. Is there a difference in the engines Grand vs non-Grand?

grand is 700 lbs heavier give or take. with completely garbage trannies that make those engines work harder.
thats my guess. you'll usually go through two 42re trannies in a ZJ before you kill a 4l. sometimes. just sayin'

My '94 Grand has 425K on the originaly 4L and it still runs great! It is a 5spd though so that helps and it has been well maintained it's entire life! Now its time to get bigger so she can enjoy the rest of her days out in the bush!

Just got rid of a XJ for a buddie that had over 500,000 on the clock with the origional engine.
