Title: Changing From 16 to 17 Inch Rims on 2006 Rubicon
Post by: duncan-d on September 12, 2011, 03:19:39 PM
I have the stock rims (16 inch) on my 2006 Rubicon with LT245/75R16 BFGoodrich All Terrain KO tires for the winter. I am looking to buy the LT255/75R17 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM from a 2011 JK and new steel rims for the summer and offroading (old Goodyear MTRs worn out). Does anybody know if there would be a problem with what I would like to do?

You shouldn't have any issue with the tires.  I have some black steel rims for sale:  http://forum.calgaryjeep.com/index.php?topic=23257.0

from a 16 to a 17 your only loosing 1/2 inch of your profile .. so i wouldnt even worry about it .

plus the JK rubicon tire i beleive is a bit larger then the TJ rubicon tire . so youll make up the difference

No tire experts out there? Plus and minus from going from 16 to 17 inch rims?

A mechanic might say you're gaining, 1/2" less rubber to be moving around on corners and off camber hills ;D

Yes 1/2 inch.  Half on top and half on bottom where it counts.
