So I have a TJ carcass...I mean..."parts Jeep" beside my garage on a gravel pad. Seems like a little while ago I thought it would be a good idea to sell the front axle before I moved the rest of the jeep into the garage to pull the 4.0L/AX15/NP231.
The question is...now what? I don't think the gravel pad will be hard enough to roll thing around on a jack (rear axle is still there just need to find a way to lift/roll the front).
I was thinking maybe a chain around the pintle hitch of my Dodge 2500 to the front cross member but I would be able to turn much and I have to pull it out, make a 90* right then back up and make another 90* into the garage. Short of forking out for a tow truck anyone have an idea?
A u-haul dolly crossed my mind too but by the time I pick one up, find a way to strap the axle-less Jeep down then return it I think it will be more effort than it's worth and might as well just pay the tow truck (oh I forgot to mention I probably won't have another day off work until Nov sometime so I have a limited amount of time. And time is money!)

Winch it to a higher jeep, then drive it out and push it in. Come on jason. Not rocket science.

I used to work for Citywide towing many moons ago. Itd take an average driver with a sling 5 minutes to do. Somethings really arent worth savin a few bucks on. Id check for the phonebook for a small independant tow truck or junk car removal guy and just see what he says... might do it for dirt cheap.... never know till ya try. I got my Jetta hauled down my street for a case of beer that way. He showed up I had it waiting for him and he wouldnt take my cash after shootin the ship for a few min.

Or you could ask for 6 volunteers to come over to just lift it up on the front and roll it in for a couple beers ;)

			-
oh the beer idea is the best.

I don't see why the chain/pintle idea won't work. As long as the chain is really short and the pintle has something to but up against.

So Andy...when you coming over?  ;D
Might work if I can get the bumper of the parts jeep lower, I'm concerned that when I try to corner and the parts Jeep has to swing I'll be binding on bumpers/exhaust/front of Jeep engine. I do have some beer in the fridge, I may have to move it to the garage next time I have a day off.
