Going to be running the exact same trail we trail that was done for the Chanda Kingone run a couple weeks ago. This means down "double up" (so I've been told is the name) and through fish east or possibly run some other trails that I have been eyeing out at Mclean. This of course requires fairly capable rigs, so wheelin experience is necessary as well as a minimum of 33" MT tires.
Double up is a very tight overgrown trail so pin stripping is likely and body damage risk is a bit higher than normal. This is weather depending if there is snow I'll be much less inclined to have people try it.
Meet: 8am
Requirements:
33" MT tires Good Tread
Spare
Vehicle in Good Mechanical Condition
Tow Points both front and rear
Food, Clothes
Looking forward to seeing some old and new folks
-
One small contingency I have to sort out, but should be there. Will let you know by Wednesday if I can't.
-
Count me in for this one as I am getting some new shoes from Jay tomorrow and i just gotta try them out!
-
At the moment my jeep won't run out of my garage... Won't be making it. :(

Need a hand?
-
Jamal,
PMed you to see if your passenger seat is available for this run...

We had a few drop outs, so unless anyone is willing to step up with the minimum requirements I am just going to make this a simpler trail run so more rigs will be able to run,

Be easy on me.......it's my first time :)

U wanna borrow my shackles for tow points or did u get some already? Would love to ride shotgun with ya but already booked with family stuff ;)
-
FYI.... "Double up" is NOT a novice trail and NOT short wheelbase friendly if you go up the cutline... it's a short steep trail that's alot of fun but not for beginners.
If you do it from the main road ...it's not bad.
I'm sure Jarma will make the right decision with the people that shows up.
-
Going down double up from the main road is the path I was going to take, it is however pretty tight ...I needed a new soft top anyway

We will see who all shows up, I'd love to run with some more club members. Right now I want to keep things on the more interesting side, But I'll gauge interest.

;D
Going the other way is quite the challenge some days.
I was not planning of doing any wheeling this weekend but I might rethink my decision...
I will let you know by Thursday
Cheers!

I just need one for the front as I've already got one for the front. Thanks Rob

I've got the new tires to test out but don't want to go crazy as I dont have a winch yet. I am in for Saturday for sure as long as you don't decide to go crazy Jamal lol
-
If i can get the timing and air fuel ratio (might need help!) sorted out in time i would love to test out my new jeep!
-
Would love to go but, I am still a realtive newbie with just a stock rubicon. So, don't want to keep you guys with the experience and bigger rigs from going out and having fun.
But, as Jamal suggests above if you tame it down a little to get more people like me I would be in.
Thanks,
Jeff

So what's the consensus. I am up for a challenging trail but something I can do on 32" MTs and some experience
-
I'm in for the run.
Either one's fine for me. I'm putting my hardtop on tomorrow so mine doesn't end like Jamals.
-
Going to be exploring some new(to me) trails, maybe run northside top of the world, If you do decide to come out and have 32" tires driver skill will be necessary. So yes it open to experienced drivers with 32" or larger MT tires.
I'll probably be posting to go out next weekend and run fish east, Anyone who is interested PM me. I have no one confirmed yet so let me know if you want to!
So lets make it 9:30 am at the store
Usual requirements- No broke arse Jeeps or Durangos, Tow points, spare, and MT tires.

So was that a personal shot because I bought Toyos. ;D I guess Colin and I will have to show you that they truly are the best tires since you refused to say it on camera ;)

John, you do realise that MT stands for Mud Terrain. The full name for Toyo's are Toyo MT's...
-
You got it man lol
-
Well, I have completed 10 runs now. So, I guess that means I have some experience/skill :-\
So, I guess I will come out and see if I can destroy my stock 2007 Wrangler Rubicon. Besides, who wants to live forever anyway? ;)
Hopefully, you guys will be available to give me advice and get me unstuck if necessary. It has been my experience that you guys are aways available for this. :)
See you all Saturday at 9:30am at the store...
Jeff

What size tires do you have on your rubicon?
-
What size tires do you have on your rubicon?
He has the stock 32" JK Rubicon tires (whatever brand they use).
-
Cool I thought they came with 31's. Will I need more then a full tank, or bring a Jerry?
-
A full tank will be more than enough
-
Unfortunately my lazy arse didn't catch up with what i planned to knock off the honneydo list... the freakin' thing grew longer! :(
You guys have fun and be safe... looks like it's going to be a nice day
-
So I have to bow out of this one as I went to get an alignment today after the new shoes and it looks like the old girl needs to go to the doctor first. I don't think a thrashing in the trails is a good idea with a weak front end. Have fun and be safe!
-
Hello guys I would like to come along i have 97 TJ with 4" lift and 33" Kelly Mt's I have a winch 8000lbs and winch bump I have a high jack too , I bought the jeep off one of your members So do i need to be member to come on this ride is my question ???
-
Yes,
I have the stock 32" MTs on my Rubicon.
If anyone thinks a stock 4 door rubicon may not be enough for this run please say so. I would appreciate the heads-up.
I can always go flying this Saturday given the weather forecast... :)
Thanks,
Jeff

Runs that are posted here in Open Trail Rides are open to anyone as long as they meet the trail leaders requirements.

wait till you get married dom :o :o
that list gets longer......... so i'm learnin.
-
If this run is in need of some "objectives", let me know.
We have 2 locations that need to be checked out, nothing crazy.
-
Thanks for the input K.
I meet all of the requirements posted except I have 32" tires instead of 33" tires. Thus, I wonder if 0.5" of additional clearance is that critical. Would the sway bar disconnect and lockers front and rear in my Rubicon make up for the lesser tires?
Thanks,
Jeff
-
Objectives as in? find the Bronco?
I am probably going to be running that trail coming from the falls, Jeff I now have an extra seat if you want to ride along, there are some pretty deep holes, like water depth hard bottom
-
Jrama,
I will take you up on that seat! Thanks!!!
I will drive my Jeep to the store anyway just in case things change and it is needed.
Jeff
-
Halloween party tonight, hopefully I'll be able to stand/ drive tomorrow morning to come out. Hopefully see you all at the store
-
So as far as I am aware, there are only two jeeps for sure coming out.....Dagoose and Myself. Anyone want to post up and say there coming? Its a 31" and up run I won't take you through anything I don't think your jeep can handle. Jeff you can still ride along or bring your Jeep its your call, either is fine.
9:30 at the store
-
Hello I will be coming What time are we meeting ?????/
-
its right above 9:30 am at the mclean store, other requirements are posted
-
I'm looking to get out one more time before I put the winter tires on... If it turns out that you will be doing fairly easy runs I'll tag along, if not going to be up there with a friend
-
Sorry guys, slept through my alarm !
-
Great run guys!
Those of you that couldn't be bothered to get out of bed really missed out.
-
That was fun, I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of that trail was like, lots of ice and mud and a nice new indent on my rear quarter and bumper...stupid trees
-
U like those trees jeep down for a 6 to 8 weeks then i will head out on some trails with u. your not scared to put a few dents in you rig.Don't u hate it when the trees jump out at u :)
-
I am due for some mud once I get the front end rebuilt in the durango. Here's praying the warranty gods will be good to me
-
I mind getting dents, I just wanted to try and see how deep that last hole was and exactly, a tree jumped right out in front of me...I mean behind as I was recovering from a temporary loss of forward momentum. With a tow strap attached.....
