Title: Car Starters
Post by: Alltornup on November 17, 2011, 05:25:29 PM
Gonna get the girlfriend a autostarter for her TJ for her birthday.  Probably one that she can use with her iphone.
Any suggestions which place to get it from and installed.

I know there are alot of butchers that intall this stuff.  Futureshop, visions and so on do a crap job.  They installed one on our work truck and it blows fuses all the time for the power windows.  Futureshop says there is nothing wrong with the install and Ford says they really screwed the wiring up.  I will believe a journeyman Ford mechanic before a dick with a passion for car audio if ya know what I'm saying.

So I just don't wan't them screwing up the ignition wiring.

Ara Automotive does amazing work, my dad had them install one on his truck and he's been a mechanic for close to 40 years and they tied it in to the vehicle system the best he had ever seen, I'm going to be getting a custom stereo and remote starter for my truck soon and they'll be the ones to get my business

I know there are alot of butchers that intall this stuff.  Futureshop, visions and so on do a crap job.

The interesting thing is that Future Shop/Best Buy and Visions probably do more installs than every other company in Calgary combined.  You would think that if they do such a crap job, maybe that wouldn't be the case?  I have worked for Future Shop/Best Buy for a long time, and I'm not going to try and pretend that there haven't been some jackass's for installers in our bays that have done a crappy install...it happens, but those guys don't generally last long...they can cost us thousands of dollars on a single vehicle if they screw something up.

BTW in the busy season(now) our bays are pumping out upwards of 10 cars a day(depending on the size of the bay and the number of installers.  Multiply that by 9 stores with bays and that's a fair number of cars....they must be doing something right.

If you want some names of experienced guys that have been doing this for a decade or more, I would be happy to share that with you.

i used Visions on Macleod and Southland. The installer was one of the best in the business. He left recently but i have been told the new guy is good. Also, that same shop is the #1 installation shop for car stereo in Canada. Juvey is 'the man' for any custom work. He is awesome.
