Title: Is there a clutch pedal defeat, on the 05 Rubicon's?
Post by: Vinman on November 19, 2011, 06:01:37 PM
Jeep won't run and I have to move it into the garage. I have searched and the 05's apparently will start in 4low without pressing clutch pedal but mine won't crank unless the pedal is pressed (I'm trying to ride the starter 20 feet to get it into the garage).
There is also a clutch overide fuse slot in the underhood fuse block but apparently there is no wires going to it so installing a fuse as per owners manual does nothing

Is there another way to defeat the clutch interlock?

Thanks in advance

Vince

is the switch is on the clutch pedal like the brake light switch?  if so, disconnect the clutch cable from the pedal and push the pedal.

Can't do what you suggested but I did manage to find an electrical connection from the interior side of the clutch cylinder, unplugged it and used a jumper to make a connection and now it cranks with no foot on the pedal.
Now just trying to get enough juice back in the battery to get it in the garage.
Sure glad is warm out. :-X

Just buy a 20 dollar atv winch from crappy tire.  Screw it to the back wall and winch Er in.  Be very careful not to scratch. And take it back the next day.

:o ..... make sure to use green "Locktite" on them wood screws so they don't come off the wall.

Do you mean "green" as in color or "green" as in enviro friendly?

I know I usually use red Locktite on the wood screws holding my 2 ton chainfall to the wood roof truss's in the garage, can never be too careful when hoisting the jeep in the air to work underneath it.

Or you could just put a fuse in the slot that says AUTO in the fuse panel behind the glove box, that defeats the clutch overide just like it is in my '98 TJ, unless they have changed it.

The 05's don't have that slot.
The 05 non Rubicon has a "Clutch Defeat" slot in the fuse box under the hood and the Rubicon's have the ability to start in 4-low without pressing the clutch, no other step required.
I didn't have the t-case selector plugged in at the time and didn't know it, that's why mine wouldn't start without pressing the clutch pedal.

All is well now.
