Anyone running 13.5" wide tires on 9" wide rims? I ask, because some tire manufacturers recommend 10" wheel for 13.5 tire but finding 17x10s isn't easy to find in simple steel black. Curious if anyone has an opinion and can speak to pros and cons.

most people run 12.5 on 8 inch or so wide. all depends what you wanna do with the jeep, to me 13.5 on a 9 is close to perfect.

I'm running 12.5 on a 8" rim, helps keep the bead seated when running low tire pressures. 13.5 on 9 is fine, and the bit of bulge you get in the sidewall from a narrower rim helps protect the rim from dents.

Didn't know you could get a 9" wide rim.
I'm running 13.5s on a 8" rim for the above stated reasons.

Good to know - thanks! I tried buying tires yesterday and the guy didn't want to sell me 9" with 13.5s cause manufacturer suggested 10".
clay - I see even 11" wide rims. Seems like 8-9" are most common.

I have 13.5's on 10 inch rims and have had on issues airing down to 10 PSI
-
i ran 33x13.5 on 8's for years. never a problem except when i debeaded at 7psi in Tellico. i ran 7psi many times after and never debeaded again.

Thanks guys - two good reasons not to listen to manufacturer and run 9" rim with 13.5" tire: 1. Save the rim; 2. Be able to air down to 10 psi or lower.

I've been running 12.5" wide on 7.5" with no problems at all....so I'd say that 13.5" wide on 9" will work just fine.

Walker Evans only do a 9" rim. There are about 6 guys in this club running 13.5" tires on those rims.
