So I just put a locker in the rear of my Durango and I am currently running 3.92 gears.
I did plan to re gear the diffs to 4.56 but I may go much bigger in the near future so they will become junk.
I am wondering if I can change the gearing in my transfer case with a rebuild to gain a better crawl ratio on the trails. Is this possible with the AWD transfer case and if not is there any other suggestions. Thanks

Which AWD case do you have? Either way probably not. There are kits for the part time case(np231). However the only change the low range ratio. High range would still be 1-1. It would work for offroad but wouldn't help when driving on the street.

do you know what transfer case is in the 'rango? you can get a teralow kit (4:1 instead of 2.72 that i'd guess you have) for the np231, which is big with the jeep guys. if you have the 242 i don't know. i guess you could swap a 231 in, although i don't know any of the details for that.
the teralow kit will probably run 1200 or so last time i checked, and to install it you have to pull the transfer case out of the truck.
IMO i would just regear your axles and run 33s. cause 33s are much cooler!

Should of bought a TJ ;D

There is a company out of Sandy Utah that can put 4to1 reduction in a 231,241,242 and a 249 transfer case. The company is called 4 to 1

I think I will just hold off and talk to Evolution about a solid axle swap and a custom lift to run 35s or 37s. I don't want to spend the 3 grand to re gear when I will likely go solid axle soon. Just seems like a waste to me as I will never get that money back

....I will never get that money back....
Nope you won't. That is why we justify upgrades as "feeding the passion", not as an investment.

Yes and there is also a difference in throwing money away and making smart choices
