I've been reading in the 4x magazines about welded rear ends, and don't understand them @ all, why do people do this? is it like a cheap positrac? who in their right mind would weld a dana 60 rearend???
just my inquisition...

It's nothing like a Posi, it's exactly like a spool. Zero slip, zero differentiation in the diff. Both wheels are locked together full time. What is welded is the spider gears in the diff.

so u would use it if ur running gravel pits or dunes then, cool, thanx!!!!

Its cheap, and for trail only rigs.
Also needs to be done right, by a good welder, or face...............KABOOM.

My rear D60 is welded. Its the same as a spool but less money. Been like that for 5 years. IMO its the only way to go on a decicated trail rig that fas a full floating rear end.
