I would go into the service menu and make sure the backlight is not turned off. I believe it's in the service menu. I can't remember. But I believe the code for Samsung  is mute, 1,8,2, power.  Just don't start messing around

Chances are that is is just a power board or Inverter board sometimes it can be a quick fix with either a replacement board or replacement caps. Simon knows what i mean.  $3 40" plasma tv was the best deal I have ever got. If the problem is more serious it could be a panel which is generally more to repair than to replace the whole unit.

Do you remember what happened right before the backlight stopped working?

Just turned it on one day and there was sound and a picture if you used a flashlight on it but no back light

Hey Jay,

Unfortunately we can get some Samsung parts but not for that TV. I can refer you to Southland Crossing TV Repair thats just around the corner from us here at Memory Express, but in terms of getting parts, I unfortunately cant source them here :( Southland has done good work for us in the past, but as for price and whatnot, you would have to call them with your model and serial and they would be able to take it from there.

Sorry bud,

Simon
