Title: Truck dead, suspecting alternator
Post by: SuicidalPenguin on April 23, 2006, 11:54:03 PM
Here's the deal... changed the valve cover gasket on Saturday and when i was done the truck started no problem.  Get it home (20 min drive), it sits for 30 minutes, still starts fine.  Go to work (10 min drive), truck sits for 6.5 hours.  When i turned the key, there was a short burst of electricity (lights and stereo come on), then goes out... no juice.

So what's the deal? I've had no problem with the alternator before, but have with the battery... any suggestions?

Sounds to me like the battery had an internal short.

alright, right before i started this thread i got my truck boosted and into my driveway.  Just got home now, and the truck starts no problem but is reading a little high on gauge.  I have no clue, this truck is a mystery.  I should work on a new battery, alkaline everywhere on this one.
