For all of us that own JK's (or minivans as SpecialK puts it), there is an open run on Saturday, January 28 in Waiporous. It will be a stocker-friendly run. We will be meeting at the Smitty's in Cochrane at 8:30am.
-
Going to try and make it out for this.
-
Is this run open to JK's only?
-
That's ok we will have our own run with slot machines, hookers and blow.
-
you got link to their site for this mall crawl?
didn't know there were any soccer fields in Waiparous? ;D I got a million of em...

Hey if i get blonde highlights, wear a salmon shirt and get a snuggy the same color as my TJ can I come? I hear the gravel pits real nice this time of year :-)
-
The run consists of 20 JK's on 35's doing the dirt road to the gravel pit, stopping for a break, then heading back to the main road to discuss the sheer insanity, no need to air up/down.

Y'know, from my post I was really leaning towards a Jk but I'm not so sure anymore cause I don't think I'd feel accepted =p
-
Is there any one from this club going to attend this event? don't realy feel like going with out knowing any one and would not know who to trust.

You need a tough backbone for these jealous types who drive little Tonka toys...

Everyone acted the same way when the Grand Cherokees came out, ZJ and WJ's. And they proved to be quite capable rigs in their own right (once they're built well and the nut behind the wheel is adjusted properly ;D)

Just confused, as that's the first open run I've seen posted that's not open. lol
-
Awww fml:-( I already got my back waxed at poofers paradise today for this run and picked up a double snuggy!
Tonka toy or Barbie Jeep... tough choice indeed!
-
Don't forget the flip flops. I will take a tonka toy over a barbie jeep anyday.

and let the JK flaming begin.
my jeep isn't 20 years old and laying in pieces in my garage so it can't be a "REAL" jeep.

Depends... are they wrapped in 35 all seasons?
-
I am going to try and make this one (yes, I have a JKU). I will confirm as soon as possible.
If anyone from CJA wants to ride shotgun please feel free to pm me (I am not prejudice to any type of Jeep you may own). In fact, I am very impressed with the ability of Wranglers, CJs, YJs, TJs, Cherokees, Grand Cherokees, and Commanders (sorry have yet to see a Liberty, Patriot or Compass on the trail but believe the last two may not be very capable regardless of driver, sorry...) . Have wheeled with all of them and have seen one person on this forum drive a stock Grand through an obstacle better than me and others in supposedly better equiped rigs. Me thinks the driver is ultimately most important...Thus, my desire to continue learing from the great people on this forum...

And to help ya out here Jeff, a libby on the trail!
Sad to say though that the JK is slightly more capable than that Libby... But still in the same class of Jeep ;)
-
Yeah,
I thought the Libby's were pretty good rigs too. Have actually considered buying one as a daily driver. The only Jeeps I have a little concern over are the patriot and Compass. But, I have been wrong before...
Jeff
-
Look at the flex! That rear tire was WAY off the ground. :-) I love libby's!
And kudos to all the JK owners who can take some ribbing. Have fun on your not-so-open open run.

x2
I joke alot about JKs but take it with grain of salt, all in good fun :-) Besides... I might need a yank from one of those minivans someday hehe.

Coulda sworn the Liberty replaced the XJ...So I guess that means your XJ and the Libby are the same class. That's unfortunate.
Just dawned on me what XJ's are in the world of Jeep... Basically an old man with ED...Squeaky joints, rusty pants and a little limp (you know... no frame).
-
OK - back on topic people. This is an open run thread. Let's keep it that way please.
-
I don't really want to sign up at that web for the Alberta JK OWNERS. IF some one here is going there can you post that i would like to join if this is possible pls!
Thanks
Anton.

How come you don't want to sign up? I'll pass it on that your coming.
Man there is allot of love for jk's here lol

To what I gather, the JK gets about the same amount of love the YJ, XJ,MJ, TJ(not so much ) got when they showed up. Jeep is very slow to change platforms so once the JK is excepted and the next thing comes along it will be bashed just as hard.
-
I agree, as long as it is a jeep there is love!
Anton
-
I'm just glad the majority of Jeep owners know that the joking around is all in fun. If you're taking offense to the comments, you haven't read enough threads yet. LOL
Our JK Owners run is indeed open only to JKs, Jeep Girl just posted it here in case there were CJA lurkers who didn't know about it. It's looking to be a pretty big group though, so we will likely end up splitting into a couple groups to keep things moving. But you never know until everyone shows up... :-)
-
Whaaaaat? Only three pages of hatin' on the JK's? You guys are getting lazy in your old age. Used to be that we could count on at least 5 pages of JK hate if something like this was posted up. ;)
-
Do you know the hardest part of driving a JK?

Oh snap!
-
Im good for 5 pages on ky own... but my posts keep mysteriously going "poof" ;-)
-
Well then get 'er done....or all you all talk like those JK owners?
;D
-
Why so damn early? It only takes 3 maybe 4hrs to do the "open" trails at Waiparous.
-
Ya right.... maybe in a real Jeep. Minivans will def take longer.
-
Looks like I will be able to make this run.
It looks like 8am at Smittys has been agreed upon on both boards.
See you then.
