Thinking about getting a new jeep, a Wrangler that is but i just would like to what you guys think of it?
- gas
- usability
- easy up grades
- overall performance

It's a jeep site... I don't think we're going to hate them.
New JK's have a crap ton of after market support so are easy to upgrade. It's a big brick so gas mileage isn't great but who cares cause they are just so damn cool. Usability depends on what you want to use it for.

Gas - Yes. They dont sell that many diesels here. Its probably recomended. Dont worry about mileage, its a Jeep. Its a barn on wheels :)
Usability - Can you fit your partner and a suitcase with some spare clothes, tools, a recovery strap and a cooler? Yes? Then is usable.
Easy up grades - Gear down if heavy, that will ease it up most grades....
Overall performance - Its a Jeep. It will roll around corners, bounce over potholes, and creak, groan and whistle. If you want the most offroad capable vehicle sold in North America? Then it will perform!

judging by your pic you need 4 doors and some room. if new is what you're after then a 2012 4-door jk rubicon with a manual trans and soft top.
2-3" old man emu lift coils and shocks should fit 35" tires easily. the new 3.6L engine is much better in power and fuel economy then the older jk's. and if you want more power, then exhaust and intake upgrades are there and even a tuner. the rubicons have all you would need for off road ability. if the stock look gets boreing then anything you could imagine is a click or phone call away.
if i mis-judged and a 4 door is too big then get a 2 door. i just went for a ride in the backseat of a 2 door and there is plenty of room on those ones too.
good luck.

Its the only reason i bought my first jeep, a 97TJ. Doors could come off, top down and windshield down. i thought that was pretty cool.

Really? You must have some good upgrades to get that kinda aerodynamics. I'm pretty sure the Empire State Building has less wind resistance... :D
