So I ask a question here to see if anyone has attempted or done this, I have a 2 YJ Wranglers and a Full size Ford,
I seen one picture of a rig where a it seemed a YJ had its arse end streched out and then dropped on to a Ford frame,
It looked pretty good to me, not really 100% Jeep anymore and no other info on the unit so I ask everyone on here
Am I crazy for trying to strech a YJ's back seat and dropping it on a full size frame?
Any thoughts or ideas?

there are strech kits out there for YJ's, but thats to link and strech your wheel base, not the jeep tub itself. I have not seen a YJ streched tub if thats what your getting at.

cj's and yj's have been dropped on bronco and jimmy frames for years. Im sure there's a crap ton of red neck tech on it somewhere.

I know a guy in Southern Alberta who has an 89YJ that he plunked on a 79 Ford Bronco frame . A 3" body lift was needed to clear and new body mounts were made. The radiator had to be located to the back of the YJ where the rear seat used to be because of fitment issues with the Ford engine being too snug under the hood of the YJ(fan too close to rad).
The transmission tunnel , gas filler neck, wiring was also modified . It looks ok from a distance and I can understand his reason for wanting the benefits of a V8, stouter diffs etc but it's relegated mostly to mud-bog type wheeling .
It is possible to put a CJ , YJ tub onto something else and the Jeep purists might not like it but it's your rig. I had a 67CJ on a 78 3/4 ton GM truck frame and utilized it's stouter drivetrain to handle the 38" Boggers. I didn't stretch the pristine tub at all but I bobbed the frame to the rear leaf spring mount and made a crossmember . You can cut up the rear of your YJ's tub to make one longer tub like a Scrambler?
My advice is to do more research and measure twice and cut once.

I'm pretty sure the pic i saw as it stated was a 88 wrangler body on 79 ford 250, good heavy strong motor and drive train, with the looks of a jeep...
Page 20, bottom left, of the Petersens 4 wheel magazine, pretty sure 1988 yj body was not offered stretched like this one, my whole thing is i have 2 yj both run and that's bout it, a 79 bronco on propane with 38.5 swampers that have seen hardly any wheeeling so, i just trying to come up with a different looking type of rig...so many options......
gonna have to keep investgating,
Thanks for the info

Are you working with a Bronco/short box frame?
How much are you looking to stretch your YJ?
An option would be to stretch the rear to Unlimited TJ length and then you can get any accessories for an unlimited if you need it. Top, armour, etc. That's what I'm doing with my TJ, swapping it on to an LJ frame and stretching the tub.

are you talking about something like this?
"1980 chevy k30 chassis shortend 40 inches D60, 14b, 350, TH400, 203/205 twin sticked, full hydro stearing, with a 1989 jeep wrangler body and 38.5x15x16.5 boggers that will soon be on H1 rims, just got to finish recentering them"

Sweeeeet... That 1980 Chevy-YJ, kinda what I'm talking about, I give that ride 2 thumbs up..

Google wagoneer springs on a Yj. Basically buy two sets of wagoneer springs (IIRC fronts x2), slight modification to springs perches (weld and re drill) and you get 2" of stretch either end.

Potential to buy a stretch project someone else started - not mine
This Jeep has been extended 14" tub and frame, has an AMC 360 engine swapped in a 727 transmission and 208 transfercase the diffs have been upgraded to dana 44's Also has a 4" suspension lift, LOTS of extra parts including brand new autometer gauges. Needs to be finished. This Jeep would make a great one-of-a-kind awesome 4x4 rig when completed. Moved, don't have the space or time to complete. Phone Steve for details - 403-894-0292

I think I just threw up a little.

I think it would have been cheaper to do a suburban :)

On which one?

The Ford on the 49" Iroks. Different strokes, I suppose....I just wouldn't want to take it within a nautical mile of anything that's off-camber.
