Title: 2.5 litre engine - NEED advice.
Post by: Napiergen on March 09, 2012, 05:15:45 PM
Hi

I need advice about what are the issues with dropping a new engine into a 1994 Jeep Wrangler? The engine in question has 230,000 on the clock. Considering it has been taking good care of what so of lifespan and durability does this have.

What issues would there be in dropping a new engine into this and what engine would be suit it?

Thanks for your advice I'm not very technically knowledgable and looking forward to growing my understanding.

taken care of and maintained they shouldn't be much lower than a straight 6... 350,000 km or more is reasonable.  hardly see a jeep at the wreckers under that mileage.. most cherokees there are around the 400k mark and I don't think the engines are usually the reason they are in there.

by that time, it's time for a new vehicle anyway.

My 2.5L gernaded at 174,000kms. Lots of wheelin and bigger tires were the cause.

I replace a 2.5l for a guy who couldn't keep oil in it due to large hole on drivers side block  ;D

Not really sure on his history but it was under 200k

Get your hands on a compression tester, that will help predict the future for your engine.
