Title: Gear install Calgary?
Post by: fergor on April 18, 2012, 11:14:12 PM
I need recommendations of shops who can install 5:13 gears for a reasonable price?  What price can I expect to pay for installation only?

Thanks

The gear place in the same building as Pats? Have you tried them?

"reasonable" is a relative term.
Some guys have good luck, some are cheaper... IMHO it's not a service you need very often, if done correctly.
Instead of cheap, I'd look for experience. Someone who has done hundreds of gear setups and gladly put their name behind the work.
Might cost more, but so will replacing it all again next month  ;D

I agree with you, do you have any recommendations?

I can say that Jay @ Chanda did a setup in one of my rigs and there were zero issues. I agree with Frenchy that you need to do it right the first time so don't cheap out and you will be happy. There maybe some guys who will offer to help but get a licensed tech who knows gear setups or you will hear your Jeep whine about it later ????

Gear set up is as pleasant and time consuming as scraping out a septic pump trucks tank by hand. Many guys claim it's easy to do but it's time comsuming to do right. Beg Billy or one of the other great guys that have done them to PLEASE do them for you.

I'm into July or august before I could do more gears. I would talk to Jay or Dave.

Our reccomendation is Jay (Chanda Auto) or Dave (Broken Axle). Feel free to use any reputable shop....but we're probably gonna recommend that places that we've had personal experience with, and have done good work for us.

Yes, my friend Vic owns that place.  I've had my jeep in there a few times, they do good work.
