My Starter is done where is the best place to get a replacement re-manufactured or otherwise, or should I just start getting pick n pull starters? Any place offer a discount to CJA Members?
I'm also trying to think of ways to "Mud proof" this new starter......
-
Parts source. Premium starter has built in rubber drains. Is there a cja discount there?
-
Yeah parts source **NEW**161.00 3 years exchange warranty.... so in reality I'll probably use the warranty about 3 times (maybe more, depending...) bringing my cost down to around 50 per starter, its sad I have to shop this way.

Stay out of the mud? Just saying....

park on hills and just bump start it everywhere.
starter motors are for losers that drive automatics.

Mud has its place, I don't go looking for jeep flooding holes but every now and then you get in one when your trying new things out, things break and thats wheelin.

ATI does a good jobs rebuilding starters..It won't be cheap though....

This actually worked quite well when I drove the Ranger. It was easier than repairing the busted Neutral safety switch.....
NAPA gives a discount to ya if you tell em your a AMA member. Ive never been asked to product a card proving such.. tho I dont often shop there, it may be a worthwhile phone call...

Canadian Tire is where I was getting mine for my TJ. There always seems to be a Canadian tire somewhat close if it goes out down the road, just keep the receipt in a safe place in the jeep. It wasn't terribly cheap but not bad for their top of the line brand... I think it was Hitachi. Always had good luck with them, it never left me stranded.

ended up going with World Wide 100 bucks out the door 2 year warranty. Now that I resolved the starter issue I noticed my passenger tires are all cut up and I'm loosing entire lugs causing serious wobble on the road, might have to replace one of them.......yay for Jeeps!

i only payed 60 for mine but 100 not to bad for 2 years ;)

I appreciate the advice, they changed locations and apparently their prices. Either way they were the best option without a doubt.

We use alternator starter depot just off barlow. They do great work at a great price!!
