Hello, This is a shot in the dark but I figure I would ask the pro's ;)
I just bought the xj and it has a rough idle. all i know about it is that it last for maybe 30 seconds on every start up. seems like it wants to stall and then will regain itself. if i rev it up then it will go away. I know i'm not giving you much to work with but I'm just getting into it....
Anything will help
Thanks

Codes? sounds like IAC. I would take t body apart and clean it as well as IAC portion put it back together and see if it helps

It's not throwing any codes.... But he could have pulled the light possibly. I'm sorry but what's the IAC?

Idle Air Control. Its a stepper motor that pushes in and out to let more air in for idle. (Fast idle)

Idle Air Control.
X2.
Ended up replacing mine on my 2001 and it solved my issues...

Or you could try taking it off the throttle body and cleaning it. Easiest with the throttle body right off. Watch them little Torx screws. They can be tough to remove and easily stripped. Carb cleaner is your friend.
