Title: engine year?

im trying to figure out what year my 4 litre engine is . its got a dist.  does that narrow it down?  anyone know? It,s    now in my 87 wrangler which used to be a 2.5litre  i never did the engine swap   is there an engine s/n somewhere that would tell me?

Check the head casting number, 4 numbers on the top of the manifold side.
