Title: Baja MTZ or Toyo M/T?
Post by: tzettler on October 15, 2012, 07:24:26 AM
Is there a question?  I tried searching and didn't find much comparison between these two specific tires, so I figured I'd just ask outright... Some simple answers and simple details would be fine... I am thinking of going with the MTZ as it seems to have a more aggressive tread pattern, though I hear the Toyo's last longer... Is this concrete, or merely a hopeful guess? Thanks all... By the way, ill be using them for both light to moderate/heavy off-roading, and a lot as a DD, approx 75km+ per day.

Wow that's a good pair to compare. I ran the MTZs and Toyo's and they are both a great tire. I would lean towards the MTZ for a daily driver as they would be better for snow and ice. The Toyo's would be a great trail tire but I think they are heavier than the MTZ. My pick is MTZ for a better all around tire that will still see some trail use.

Here are the weights for the Toyo's.

35x12.50R17 125Q E/10 - 83lbs

The MTZ's are as follows

LT315/70R17 or 35x12.50R17 121Q D/8 - 68 lbs

Thats an extra 15lbs of rotating mass. I know where my vote woul go if fuel mileage and power are a concern.

Hey man yeah thanks, I'm definitely siding with the MTZs... Just needed a bit of reinforcement in my decision!
