I was driving my 88 YJ, after FINALLY getting it back up to road standards, i travel through an intersection and the rpms drop straight down to zero, all of my lights turn off, everything that is powered is gone....hmm....so i pull over as quick as i can. I try to turn the truck on again, and as i move it into the "on" position, the seatbelt and emergency brake light didnt come on as usual, and the starter doesnt make a sound. None of the gauges function now, none of the lights come on EXCEPT the hazard lights, and the clock runs still, but thats IT.
Whats going on with my troublesome money pit of a Jeep?

sounds like a bad ground would be a good place to start.

Thanks Bnine, i will check all of the connections tonight and hopefully that will be the case. That is, after i get it towed back to my house.

checked ground...looks fine
Any other suggestions?

Did you start with the obvious? Checked fuses, battery at 12V....

^^^ Yep, sure did. Well, the best finally got towed home (its 1:36am monday night  ). Ill see what i can do tomorrow.

Fusible link at the box just above the starter?
I had a case where a dirty battery connections caused the same problem.

Feel around, and look for badly corroded, cracked, and just all around bad wires.
Primarily throughout the ignition system. Ie, solenoid and starter to the batter, the alternator, and where ever else they go.
Seen this before on a ranger. Couldnt find the wire, and when checking the connections it turned out to be a corroded wire that broke inside the insulation.
Once every thing is checked out, get the ohmeter, or test light and try to trace power. You'll find it eventually.
good luck
