Title: Where do you order parts from?
Post by: GigaPig on November 14, 2012, 07:13:57 PM
Where do you order parts from if you can't get them at Pick N Pull? I'm all for supporting local places, but sometimes the part just isn't available or it's a long wait or the prices are just too high, or the part's so small it's not worth a local shop to order it in.

Looking around online there are tons of places in the US but shipping here is insane, even for small, light things.

I just looked at a couple of parts from rockauto.com and for $9.90 worth of parts (a blower control module/resistor and two marker lamps) shipping would be $74.73! I could maybe understand if they were big, heavy parts but all three things are very small and very light. It's the same with JCWhitney, Quadratec, etc, etc.

Any Canadian online places you'd recommend?

Auto value has always been the cheapest for me in Calgary. You can also go to NAPA and if you have an AMA card they give you a discount. I believe its 7 or 10% off for membership... Also bowness auto parts can be quite competitive.

In all honesty tho, I go for customer service over price. Ive always shopped around until those 3 typically gave me the best deal anyways, so I dont bother checking anymore. Just call all 3 and see what you can get. :)

I go to auto value too.  Talk to Alen Jensen.  He's in the commercial division there I always get good prices from him

World pac. You have to open a account for your business as they are wholesale. Mostly oem quility parts. No junk unit bearings. Parts are usually a third to half of what napa/partsource/autovalue sells for.
They do have an app for different smart phones where you scan the serial number of the vehicle and do a part search and order.
Usually buy from parts source. Location is close by for me.

auto value all the way.

if its a part i cannot get there, and/or is a Dealership part, Rockauto.com is great.  you won't mind paying the shipping on a 30$ part when its a 400$ part at the stealership............

For common parts that I don't need post-haste, I usually order from autopartsway.ca, they have free shipping over a certain order value.

Bowness auto parts, usually the best price and quality parts, they stock skf bearings as standard replacement

I've used autopartsway.ca a few times and have been quite happy with them - I seem to recall there was free shipping over a certain $ value think it was 75-100 bucks

Now I use Napa in Canmore - great guys and service - plus a good deal through work

Oh yeah Northridge gets great reviews here and is local (aftermarket stuff)
