Title: Steering stabilizer??????
Post by: BUKI on January 09, 2013, 08:20:44 AM
What is it's ACTUAL purpose?  Mine is completely shot (almost no resistance at all).  I have never replaced it.  What is it going to accomplish?  I have a gift certificate to crappy tire.  Wondering if I should get one, and if I should, get stock or the upgraded Rancho version?
NOTE:  I don't have any issues with steering, except a little looseish.  BUT what can you really expect from a 22 year old YJ.

its a YJ.

edit; i ran one, and never replaced it when i put new steering on. your problem is that 'inverted T' steering and 35s and a lift and probably worn TREs.

if you wanna spend money go for it!

It does exactly what its name is, dampens steering input, whether it comes from the steering wheel, or bump steer from the wheels. Off-road you probably wouldnt notice much difference if it was there or not. Highway, your front end will require a little more "attention". My YJ doesn't have one, it only gets wheeled locally. My TJ does, tows a trailer and usually wheels 300km away.

Ahhhh. But technically it's free. I have 218 bucks left at crappy tire. Just want to know if it would be worth it. My front end is tight, I think the vagueness is slop in the steering wheel.  I drive maybe 5000 kms a year, including wheeling it.  I reckon (bringing this word back) ill get one, I can't imagine getting anything else at c tire.  Already bought a new vacuum.  ;D

If you haven't felt the need for one yet, why get it! Spend the money of something more useful, like tools, oil, filters, straps, rope, hell their is lots to spend your money on at ctire!
