Title: 05 LJ Shifter Boot
Post by: scott slade on March 28, 2013, 05:18:24 PM
To some this is a silly question, but... The "leather look" shifter boot on my 2005 six speed LJ is falling apart. Can I assume that the rubber boot from a TJ up to 2004 will be a direct bolt in and flex enough to handle the six speed...???   I have to get a new clutch, so thought I would replace this at the same time....  any thoughts...??  8)

This rubber shifter boots get really stiff in the cold weather. My shifter was a real dog on a cold day. Two things I did to make life easy was 1. replace the gear oil in the tranny with a synthetic, and 2. had a friend of mine make me a soft leather shifter boot which I attached to the original shifter boot frame on the console. Now shifting gears in all temperatures is super smooth. Theses guys make 'em.
