Title: Speed sensor question
Post by: 5speedcobra on May 06, 2013, 12:14:32 PM
I recently replaced the transfer case in my 98 XJ with another 98ish one.. I noticed that the speed sensor that came with the transfer case had a different connector than mine, and much larger gear on it. I put my speed sensor into the new transfer case, and everything is running good, EXCEPT that my speedo is showing me 107km/h at when I'm actually only doing 100km/h

I'm guessing the new transfer case has different number of teeth or something? Anyone had this problem before?

Thanks!

Cris

Sounds like the tcase you put in likely came from a Jeep with different gear ratio in the diffs perhaps? Therefore it would need a different tooth count in the speedo gear.
Take a peek at this handy chart to help decipher what tooth count speedo gear you need:

Should keep you from getting many speeding tickets.

Or just put 31's or 32's on and it will be in sync again. lol
