Title: rear driveshaft lengths

sorry if this sounds like a noOb question,

is there difference in driveshaft lengths for TJ's with the D35 and those with D44? I've got a line of D44 just wonding if I have to budget for a new DS.

It might be a little shorter, but nothing a grinder and a welder can't fix.  Plus your slip yoke would probably take up some of the slack.

d44 be an inch or so shorter.

Bad for a lifted rig with a d35. Lifting already pulls the slipyoke further out of the tailshaft.

Thanks Bill. What if I score the DS from the 44 setup, I should be fine then right? My best bet would be the 44 with SYE and a new DS anyways right?

Hey Bill, can you do pinion seals? my rear needs some attention. I understand it is fairly straight forward fix, but with some very specific torque settings.

Yeah we can do that. Just give  me a holler.

If you get a D44, the stock D35 shaft should work out just right with the lift you have.

You just have to make sure that it doesnt bottom out on compression.

The sye is definately the route to go, but lots of dollars by the time you do the tailshaft and new driveshaft. You should be able to get what you have working until you can SYE.

thanks for the offer. Unfortunately this deal is lined up for late in the fall. getting a D30 and D44 with 4.10's for a smoking deal if it goes thru. straight swap will be easiest way I can regear and get a d44 to boot.
