Title: tire bead sealer
Post by: JackstandJohnny on May 10, 2013, 12:11:38 PM
where can i pick some up in Calgary? don't need much.

one of my tires is leaking at the bead but no dents in the rims or anything like that. just want to pop the bead, seal it up.  yes its on an aluminum wheel too

i've called three tire places and auto value. nobody carries it.  guessing i'll have to buy a gallon from Acklands or something lol

thanks

wallyworld has slime. Or get a tube of accoustic sealant. It won't dry like silicone and should seal.

Pop the bead and take a wire wheel to the inside of the rim to remove that oxidation. Re seat the bead it should take the leak away. Another thing, (Andy does this) is use rubber cement around the bead. I think it's like a poor mans bead lock  ;)

X2 usually solves the problem, cheapo wire wheel on a drill and your done.

silicone will seal it really well. And make it a massive PIA to get off. Acoustic sealant is used in construction. Black crap that doesn't dry should work but a wire wheel might solve the problem. If you want to take a drive I can deal with it.

Popped the bead: it was dirty as hell lots of mud and crud in there. Cleaned it out and popped the need back on. All good now no leaks :).
