So based on votes and what people have been telling me we will be doing this after the show n shine on July 13th.
We will be camping out in maclean afterwards, so anyone is welcome to join us.
Maybe shoot me a pm if you are coming and how many people will be coming out with you. I want to make sure we bring enough food for everyone!
We would like to host an easy day out in maclean as a thank you to the jeepers that support us and to future jeepers that we haven't met yet!
Open to anyone that drives a 4x4 (not just jeeps and with the proper tow points etc...).
This will be a family friendly event meaning kids welcome (my herd will be in attendance).
Depending on the day we pick, we can do either a lunch or dinner where we will provide hot dogs, pop, chips and such.
There will probably be a couple of give aways/swag to be had as well.
Depending on the turnout I may require some volunteers to help out on the trail, so maybe post up if you are interested in volunteering!
Once we have a day picked, I will start another thread regarding who will be coming, that way I can plan how much food/snacks to bring out!!
Thanks guys and gals!
-
Dave (or Eric?),
I'll gladly help out anyway I can.
-
This is Dave's planned hot dogging run ;D
Im sure ill be cooking hot dogs...
-
Sounds fun!
-
So I think the family and I will be out camping that night (it looks like everyone wants after the show n shine) so anyone else is welcome to join as well. Yes... Even you Eric....
Maybe some night wheeling?
-

Should be an OK run for ATs, just depends on the amount of rain we get lol.
-
It won't be a crazy run, so I think ATs are fine. If you get stuck, there will be people to pull you out. It's all part of learning!
My wife will be out in her xj for the second time off road ever, so chances are you will be able to keep up with her!
-
the worst part is i dont even have AT's just street tires, lol i think i need to look in to some 31" mt's :P
-
I have my 32" AT's/wheels from my sahara. You would need wheel adapters. At about 60%.
Can be a blinging YJ rollin' on 18's.

fraser (whiteout) has the proper adapters for sale to make those work.........
-
DUUUUUUUU EEEEEETTTT
-
That would be kinda cool. You'd need a 1" shackle lift, but then mini me. Wouldn't be so mini

I just happen to know a guy with a 1" shackle lift with greaseable bolts and all new bushings. I also have a set of stock JK sahara wheels.... Just saying....

Fixed it for ya.
Dana, we ALL want to see what your masterpiece is going to look like moving under it's own power. Hurry up!
It would be even cooler if you could have it ready to go for a drive a week or two before the S&S.
-
@ Dingleberry
Just about!
Started for the first time on Saturday, have a couple more little issues to iron out, then its off to broken axle for an alignment.
@ W-Squared
maybe, just maybe I will be able to drive it to the gas station this weekend! Just have to get some kilometers on the clock so that it can go off road.
oh ya and you're a dick Todd!

You have 24 days left until the zombie fracking apocalypse to get Big Bird rolling. The survival of you, your wonderful wife, and the whole CJA Zombie Apocalypse team relies on your ability to get yer poop in a group. ???
The whole reason that your hex-jay is painted yellow is to be zombie bait on the trail. How are we gonna survive without the zombie bait?
-
Never trust an XJ in a zombie apocalypse. Never. Take a ZJ; the ZJ stands for zombpocalypse Juggernaut
Yea.
-
I agree with johnny! zombie vision is based on movement, the safest jeep to take is the zj!!!!
-
:(
If that's the case any jeep will suffice. Most of em don't move under their own power you know
-
I agree with johnny! zombie vision is based on movement, the safest jeep to take is the zj!!!!
That's why Big Bird is the designated bait vehicle. It will move for a while, and then stop moving. When it stops moving, there will be the sound of cursing coming from the vehicle. Combine that with the bright yellow color and the unique odor, and no self-respecting zombie could avoid attacking it.
Don't worry, we plan to park at the top of the hill and pick the zombie off as they approach. You shouldn't get eaten, as long as nobody does anything foolish like sell their arsenal of accurate long range rifles to a bunch of jeep-driving yahoos that haven't had time to get familiar with their new boom sticks yet.
oh..... :-[

so would you prefer if I brought a few fresh corpses instead of hot dogs?
-

No !
Just keep your damn promise to offer free face painting for the kids!
Dave you also know you said hot dogs and corpses in the same sentence? The irony.
-
Myself and my fiance will be out in my 92 islander, sorry in advance to who ever will be pulling me out that day. I only have street tires but it's still a Jeep so who knows. We will also probably camp out that night as well.

i've got some 29" mud terrains you can buy cheap. BFGs. better than street terrains. then you can just hawk em when you get lift/tires/whatever ;)

looks like it will be early next week!
-
Do we want to set up camp and BBQ in the large field across from gravel pit? Easy too find and access...
-
That sounds like a good plan sir!
-
Got the days off so I will attend.
-
I am also in. Is it afternoon of 13th at Mclean?Meet at store in Mclean?
Devo

I'm in. Myself plus one passenger.

careful on that casual challenge - I was out with your wife the first time she off-roaded...she's a MONSTER in her Jeep!! :D
-
Saturdays run is around what time and where do we meet?
-
We will head to McLean creek right after the show and shine, about 2pm, meet up at the store then setup at field across from gravel pit. We will see how big the group is and choose a trail from there. After he trail run we will BBQ and cook hot dogs on a fire. The rough plan for the Saturday.
There may be an open run on sunday too, unsure at this point.

Always trust the Communist Broadcasting Corp to provide you with all the facts and the very highest standard of journalism. Your tax dollars at work.
Or let the private sector bring you the news.....

Propane tank found. Propane tank ignited in a controlled manner by the fire department. Everyone is safe. There's an eight minute difference in the dateline....I guess maybe Global invested a bit more time in gathering some facts instead of parroting what the wire service put out?
-
looks like we are still good to go. this is happening rain or shine. my family will be camping rain or shine as well.
teeka you are most certainly welcome to come!
-
Yeah...but look who asked the question. When's the last time he drove a Jeep?
i wasnt lookin to be a dick or anything, i was at maclean yesterday and the rocks to get to the gravelpit are barely wide enough to fit my quad through

My sarcasm didn't come across all that well. I was just making a play on Kev's comment that we're in Jeeps, not trucks. It's all good!
-
Awesome time awesome people. Thank you for the hot dogs. :)
-
Happy to hear it went well. Wish my HEEP was mended.

Thanks to the guys (Bullet and... ???) who came to get me out of the hole I dropped my jeep in!
Sadness that I let that nissan tug me out... hilarious that immediately after he needed a tug out.
And thanks for the dogs and sodas. Needed those after fussing about in a mud hole by myself for a while trying to get unstuck!
-
Thank you to the Broken Axle crew for the delicious hot dogs, and organizing a great fun run.
Also, thank you to all the folks in the group I was with - everyone kept a great attitude and was a ton of fun to be around as we figured out how the recent floods have changed the familiar landscape.
-
Great time yesterday!
Top of the World was fun (thanks for leading Mike), even if somehow I managed to blow up my winch....lol.
Thanks to the Broken Axle crew for a great idea, fun run, and tasty hotdogs! Plus a free T-shirt!
-
Thanks for the run guys!
Good dogs! Judging by the ratio of hot dogs to people, I suspect Dave's family will be learning all the different ways to incorporate hot dogs into a meal! :-P
Anyone wanting to hit Quark Ridge some time in the future, let me know.

No problem, I have your number so I will let ya know when we are going wheeling so you dont plant yourself alone again lol
Was an awesome day, thanks Broken Axel for the run, and BBQ afterwords.
-
Thank you to everyone that came out! we had a blast. Next time either more people need to come out (although there were a lot of people considering it looked like it was going to rain a lot...) or the ones who come out need to eat more hot dogs!!!
We had hot dogs for breakfast and lunch on sunday and hot dogs all around at the shop today. We still have a couple packs left!
I think my wife and I are the only ones that broke anything... and that was before we got there. My LF axle seal is leaking quite badly now. My wife's rear main seal is also leaking pretty badly and she bent the bracket on the diff to mount the sway bar link on the trail.
See you all at the hot dog run next year! (but probably before that on the trails...)
-
Hey sorry Dave, didn't realize I was on the "list" he he. Was just gonna help you guys out if needed but I didn't hear anything back. Sorry about my share of those extra hotdogs ;)
-
I ended up blowing a wheel bearing/hub assembly, probably from the RTI ramp.
