i beleive that my realese bearing is gone.... i can hear a ticking sound coming from my clutch!!!! and when i push on my clutch the sound goes away....... i've heard that this might be the realese bearing from a number of people..
if anyone has any input on this please!!!!!! help me.........if it is can i replace it myself or?????

If it is the release bearing you will hear it when the clutch is depressed, not while the clutch is engaged.

It might be the release bearing, can't say for sure. But I will say if you are going in there to change it, The best plan would be to do everything the clutch, rear seal, front tranny seal, because it's a lot of work to get in there, and you don't want to do it again in 3 months. This is the voice of experience, learned this the hard way. Several times now :) .
As for "can you do it yourself'' . Only you know your mechanical abilities. It is a big job, but not overly difficult. I can't think of any special tools you would need to do it. Maybe a transmission jack, that definatly helps. The last clutch I bought came with the little alignment dohickey so you shouldn't need that. Maybe some one else will mention something I've forgotten.

Good points and I would also add slave cyl if it's internal and spend the 30 or 40 bucks and machine the flywheel. Also put locktite on all flywheel and clutch bolts.

Is it a tick or a rattle .. is it loud ?
It could be the release bearing just rattling about .. does light pressure (taking up the slack) make the noise go away or get louder ??
-
its a ticking sound but when i put light pressure on the clutch it goes away??
-
I wouldn't worry about it then
-
i take it this is normal??
-
Define normal ..
Did it leave the factory like that ?? .. no.
Is it acceptable ?? .. that's up to you. I wouldn't worry about it.
It isn't broken .. you'd know if it was .. believe me.

"Normal" after running through a mud hole.
Mine has been making noises for the last 40,000 kms. The noise seems to change a little after every wheeling trip. Mine is more of a slight grinding sound though.
I discussed this with the service manager at Tower (while I tried to work the warranty angle -  was his response) and he suggested running it until a continuous grind occurred. At that point, time for a total rebuild. (clutch, release bearing, etc.)

well yea "normal" was going through a mud hole haha...
well i just got my clutch replaced so the last thing i want to do is wait till the grinding gets worse!! id rather prolng the life of my clutch right now lol but its sounding like a release bearing at this point but i was also told something about the linkage "cables"(but i have a hydrolic clutch).......?
