I'm swapping in a new diff and replacing the old rotted bushings while I'm at it. Never done this before, but so far it's been easy - came apart without any fights. Now I'm faced with changing the bushings and don't know the Right Way. What works best for a guy without a press?
(later...)
Okay, I've been searching around a bit, and it looks like the BFI (Brute Force and Ignorance) approach is pretty much what people do - burn out the rubber, take the sawzall and cold chisel to the rest, etc. I can do that stuff if I must, but it'd sure be nice if I could take the lazy, skilled, and properly-equipped approach.
So is there anyone around (perhaps with a press) who'll push out the old and press in the new for me for a twenty or a case of the right beer or something? If so, I've got to come into the city tomorrow (Thursday) and could swing by with the arms and token of my appreciation.
Thanks.

New ones are cheap and easy :)

I thought of that - I've got about $175 in the eight bushings I just got from Auto Value, so I gave them a call to see what the arms are worth. They quoted me about twice that, plus they don't stock them. Who do you suggest, and what's a good price? Note that I don't have the luxury of time, so some distant internet source won't work well for me right now.

Call up Dave jay etc any 4x4 shop order control arms. They will cost around the same you just spent.

Then it's the right price, but I don't know who "Dave jay" is/are. I know Modern Motors and will be
in their neighborhood tomorrow. Good/bad/other?

I am the Dave they would be referring to. you can give us a shout tomorrow and we can see if we can help you out!

Ba-dum tsh!
(A few days later...)
Broken Axle brought in a set of stock arms with bushings for $220. I couldn't be happier.
Turns out that now, though, I need a 3.73 rear diff. I've posted in the "wanted" section, but if someone sees this posting instead and has one, please let me know. I'm really in a crunch.
