Hey guys so I need a hand diagnosing my jeep. Today my jeep ran fine and got me to work on the way back she started running rough while idling then stall and I Cannot save it with pressing on the gas. I figured vacuum leak and sure enough the rear tube on the top of the valve cover was ripped in half, so I got it to a parking lot and ran to the parts store. I taped it back up and still it stalled when idling at lights. It's making a loud noise in the back by the fuel tank, the tube is only taped up could it still be that or is it the noise coming from the back causing the problem? Thoughts? Also sound like the jeep is struggling for when its about to stall.
Thanks
Billy

Put fuel in the fuel tank. That's my first guess:)
-
I was thinking that too, might give it a shot just in case lol.

Have you checked codes? Do you have a fuel pressure tester? Noise from back indicates a prob with pump. Eric's got a point have you got enough gas? Don't go by the gauge. Gauge said i had a 1/4 tank and nope. Ran it dry. Does it start every time, just runs like poo?

Starts but it usually takes about 20 mins of sitting

There should be a black pressure release valve on the fuel lines near the motor. You can depress this(wear safety glasses) while its running. fuel should shoot out quite far. If it just dribbles out then you need a new pump

cool ill give that a shot

Idle problems and not restarting for a period of time makes me think Crank Position Sensor (CPS). A bad or failing CPS can manifest its self with rough idle and stalling out once it gets hot. Eventually it fails completely and you can't get it to start at all.

Do you guys think it could be a problem with the ccv? would that cause the engine to stall? anyone know where i can get ccv's and hoses locally? :-\
-
X2 on the CKP sensor. Prone for problems like yours. Crank case vent hoses are avaliable from napa I think. Comes complete withe elbows and hard plastic tubes. Common replacement.
Mopar sells em too. Not terribley expensive.

Kk thanks mike

I think all of your problems stem from the "yj". They are almost as bad as the "xj" and really the only real fix for them is to get a "tj" or even better a "jk".

Hold on Dan... Where is the YJ love?

Lol had a jk, cost to much. Always wanted a tj, still cost to much :)

Don't worry, Dan is rich so he can afford a jk.

haha oops already did that once :D , but im driving the fiancé's moms car till i get it fixed. Hopefully i fix it sunday!

Well all in all it could have just been low on gas haha I feel like a noob, however I did replace both ccv's and all the vacuum lines so it could have been them but I doubt it. I think my mistake came in thinking my 10 dollars of gas would get me across the city an back two times. I'm really starting to hate not having a gas gauge but I guess you live and you learn thanks for the help guys!

Been there, done that. Hey, at least yours runs properly now. I'm not gonna have any hair left after mine gets completed.
